472 REGULAR LEFTING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, June 30, 1921, The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; absent, none, The Minutes of the last meeting were read and upon motion of Councilman Haynes were adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Coun- cilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight; nayes, none. Councilman Haynes introduced the following resolution: RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the sum of Eight Hundred and Eight Dollars and Fifteen Cente ($808.15) be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent Fund of the City of Austin, Texas, and made payable to B. A. Philquist, Clerk of the District Court of Travis County, Texas, to pay court costs and officers' fees in certain tax suits brought by the City of Austin for taxes due and owing, as is specifically set forth in detail in the accompanying bills of costs, which bills of cost have been verified and approved by the City Attorney. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. Councilman Eyres introduced the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That upon the recommendation of the Hospital Advisory Committee, A. W. Harris and Edwin Kreisle be appointed as architects to draft tentative plans for a Nurses Home at the City Hospital; provided, that the plans so drafted and to be submitted shall be satisfactory to and must be accepted finally by the City Council and a bid made thereon satisfactory to the City Council before any charge or fee may be made to the City for such work. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, liaynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. Councilman Copeland moved that the bids for furnishing sweet and butter milk to the City Hospital for the period beginning July 1st and ending December 31st, 1921, be awarded to J. Bront Huey. Hotion prevailed by the following vote: Ayee, ayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyren, Haynes and Searigst, 5; nayes, none, Councilman Copeland moved that the bids of William Ulit to furnish meut and groceries to the City Hospital for the six months beginning July 1st and ending December 31, 1921, be accepted as the lowest and best bid. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Bayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. Councilman Copeland moved that the bid of the Austin Laundry and Dry Cleaning Company to do laundry work for the City Hospital be accepted as the lowest and best bid. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. Councilman Copeland introduced the following resolution | Whereas, the sum of Twelve Hundred Dollars has been appropriated and included in the budget of the expenses for the fire department for the year of 1921 for the purpose of paying salarics of two fire alarm operators and Whereas, the proposed change in the system of transmitting fire alarme has been postponed for several months, therefore be it resolved that the sum of three hundred dollars of the sum heretofore appropriated as specified, be transferred and applied as follows: One Hundred and Fifty Dollars to be applied as an increase to the salary of Robert Rockwood at the rate of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per month to recompense him for additional service as City Fire Marshal, in addition to that of C1AAB "A" fireman. One Hundred and Fifty Dollars to be applied as an increase to the salary of M. R. Miller at the rate of twenty-five dollars per month to recompense him for the additional service as Master Mechanic of the Fire Department in addition to that of class "A" fireman. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none, Councilman Copeland introduced the following resolution: Whereas, the sum of two hundred and fifty ($250.00) dollars has been appropriated and included in the budget of the expense for the repair work on the water heater at the City Hospital for the year 1921; and Whereas, there appears to be a surplus in said appropriation, Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the sum of Ninety-four and 99/100 dollars be transferred to a fund for the purpose of paying the salary of wiss Rosa Longfeld as assistant head nurse at the City Hospital. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. Upon the recommendation of Sam D. Griffin, Chief of Police, Councilman Copeland nominated K. Smith us special policeman of the City of Austin, to be used as night watchman on Congress Avenue, Nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Eyres, Haynes and Bearight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Copeland present but not voting.
