Councilman Copeland introduced the following resolution | Whereas, the sum of Twelve Hundred Dollars has been appropriated and included in the budget of the expenses for the fire department for the year of 1921 for the purpose of paying salarics of two fire alarm operators and Whereas, the proposed change in the system of transmitting fire alarme has been postponed for several months, therefore be it resolved that the sum of three hundred dollars of the sum heretofore appropriated as specified, be transferred and applied as follows: One Hundred and Fifty Dollars to be applied as an increase to the salary of Robert Rockwood at the rate of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per month to recompense him for additional service as City Fire Marshal, in addition to that of C1AAB "A" fireman. One Hundred and Fifty Dollars to be applied as an increase to the salary of M. R. Miller at the rate of twenty-five dollars per month to recompense him for the additional service as Master Mechanic of the Fire Department in addition to that of class "A" fireman. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none, Councilman Copeland introduced the following resolution: Whereas, the sum of two hundred and fifty ($250.00) dollars has been appropriated and included in the budget of the expense for the repair work on the water heater at the City Hospital for the year 1921; and Whereas, there appears to be a surplus in said appropriation, Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the sum of Ninety-four and 99/100 dollars be transferred to a fund for the purpose of paying the salary of wiss Rosa Longfeld as assistant head nurse at the City Hospital. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. Upon the recommendation of Sam D. Griffin, Chief of Police, Councilman Copeland nominated K. Smith us special policeman of the City of Austin, to be used as night watchman on Congress Avenue, Nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Eyres, Haynes and Bearight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Copeland present but not voting. The Council then recessed, SPECIAL INTING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Tехав, July 1st, 1921, The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight 5; absent, none. 473 The Mayor introduced the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That James Belger, A. W. Townsend, and Otto Ebeling be and they are hereby appointed and constituted a special commission, and each of said parties is oppointed a special agent of the City of Austin for the pигровев following: It shall be the duty of said commission and said parties to make a survey of the real estate and improvements thereon situated within the city of Austin to determine the true valuations of said properties and to obtain all necessary data as to the valuations of same as now rendored, and to discover all property, both real and personal, now escaping taxation, and to: collect and compile all necessary data thereof, for the use of the Board of Equalization during its sittings in the year 1921, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That each member of said special commission shall receive as compensation for his services the sum of $5.00 per day for each day that he may actually work in said undertaking. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none, The Council then recessed. SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, July 2, 1921, The Council was called to order by the Liayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Haynes and Searight, 4; absent, Councilman Eyres. The application of George Quinton, Colored, to operate as a service car Buick #33471 was granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmon Copeland, Haynes and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Eyres absent. The application of W. B. Cleveland, colored, to operate as a service car Ford #4364185 was granted by the following vote: Ayce, Liayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none, Councilman Eyres absent. The Council then adjourned.
