The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The Council then adjourned. City Cesk REGULAR MFETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, September 15,1921. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Haynes and Searight, 4; absent, Councilman Fyres. Councilman Haynes moved that the regular order of business be suspended and that a committee present be heard. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Haynes and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Eyres absent. A. P. Watson, Ireland Graves, Wallace Tobin, W. E. Long, Murray Ramsey, L. J. Schneider, C. B. Cooke and Dr. C. H. Brownlee, representing the different civic organizations of the city, appeared before the Council in regard to the proposed leasing of Barton Springs. After discussing the same at length, the Council took the matter under advisement. The communication of B. H. Williams, Agent of the Gulf Refining Company, complaining of drainage conditions on lower Congress Avenue, Was read and upon motion of Councilman Haynes was referred to the City Attorney and City Engineer by the following vote: Ayes, Kayor Yott, Counoilmen Copeland, Haynes and Beuright, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Myres absent, The communication of Miss Karie Browne, Municipal Hurse, aoking tool the city furnish an automobile for use in ner work, was read. Councilman Haynes introduced the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the tax rolls of the year 1920, n..owing as follows, to-wit: Value of Real Estate Value of Personal Property Grand Total Value $20,081.875.00 6,695,818,00 -326,777,693.00 General Revenue Tax .... The Mayor laid before the Council the following ordinance: AN ORDINANCE ORDERING A SPECIAL ELECTION IN THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS, ON THE 27TH DAY OF OCTOBER, A. D. 1921, FOR THE SUBMISSION OF THE QUESTION "SHALL A COMMISSION BE CHOSEN TO FRAME A NEW CHARTER", AND FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING FROM THE CITY OF AUSTIN AT LARGE A CHARTER COMMISSION OF FIFTEEN MEMBERS. The ordinance was read the first time and Councilman Copeland moved that the rule be suspended and the ordinance be placed on its second reading. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Haynes and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Eyres absent. The ordinance was read the second time and Councilman Copeland moved that the rule be suspended and the same be placed on its third reading. and final passage. The ordinance was read the third time and Councilman Copeland moved that the ordinance do finally pass. Griffin, Chief of Police, Councilman Copeland nominated A. J. Hernandez, Frank Prado and A. G. Cas- tonin as Special Policemen. Nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Haynes and Searcht, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Eyres absent. The monthly reports of Miss Nellie M. Hall, Secretary of the United Charities, Jas, H. Kaxwell, Sealer of Weights and Measures, and Kiss Rosa Lengefeld, Superintendent of llurses at the City Hospital, and C. L.
