    An application to erect a warehouse and install a storage tank at Comal and East Fifth Streets was sent to the City Engineer, Electrician, and Fire Marshal for further review.

    Two individuals, E. E. Foster and Mrs. Eula McRae, were granted permits to operate "service cars," an early form of for-hire transportation.

    An attorney for Dr. J. Phipps appeared before the council to discuss property matters concerning East 13th and San Jacinto Streets.

i Councilman Haynes moved that W. A. Pillow be appointed Presiding Judge of the Second Ward for the election to be held October 27,1921. Nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres and Bearight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Haynes not voting. Councilman Haynes nominated J. T. Hurt to be Presiding Judge of the Fourth Ward for the election to be held on October 27, 1921. Nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Haynes not voting. The Council then adjourned. The application of Steve Gage, Agent, asking for permission to erect a ware house and install a storage tank at the corner of Comal and East Fifth Streets was read and upon motion of Councilman Eyres was referred to the City Engineer, City Electrician, and Fire Marshal, by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The application of E. E. Foster to operate a service car, Ford, 540 : #421417 was granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The application of irs, Eula McRae to operate a service car, Ford, #525993 was granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. A. 8. Phelps, Attorney for Dr. J. Phipps, appeared before the Council concerning the property of the said Dr. J. Phipps on East 13th and Ban Jacinto Streets. The monthly reports of Rosa Langefeld, Superintendent of Hurses at City Hospital, M. R. Miller, Machinist for Fire Department, Walter L. Eyres, Superintendent Parks and Public Property, Robert Rockwood, bire Marshal, A. S. Anderson, Public Weigher, Mra, R. C. Walker, Pure Food Inspector, and bred sterzing, Assessor and Collector, were read and ordered filed. A report of C. L. Woodward, Chief of the Fire Department, of his attendance at the 48th Annual Convention of the International Association of Fire Engineers held in Atlanta, Georgia, on October 11th-15th, 1921, was read and ordered filed, • The Council then adjourned. Upon the recommendation of Sam D. Griffin, Chief of Police, Councilman Copeland nominated J. Bunyon Prestidge as special policeman to act as merchant police. Nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Copeland not voting. Upon the recommendation of Sam D. Griffin, Chief of Police, Councilman Copeland nominated J. Rector Allen as special policeman to act as watchman at E, M. Scarbrough & Son's Store. Homination was confirmed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Copeland not voting. Upon the recommendation of C. E. Leonard, City Engineer, A. J. Anderson, City Electrician, and Robt. Rockwood, Fire Marshal, the applica- tion of Steve Gage to erect a warehouse and install a storage tank upon East 5th and Comal Streets was granted by the following vote: Ayes, mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none,
