584 : December 22, 1921, be rejected and that new bids for one-half the city's deeds up to May 19, 1922, be called for. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Bearight, 5; nayes, none. The Council then adjourned. ! REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, December 22, 1921, The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett,. Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; absent, none. Councilman Copeland moved that the reading of the Minutes for December 8th and 9th be further postponed. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The report of W. L. Eyres, Superintendent of the Water, Light and Power Department, for the month of November, 1921, was read and ordered filed. The reports of Miss Nellie M. Hall, Secretary of the United Charities Association, for the months of October and November were read and ordered filed, The report of Dr. A. A. Biebel, Meat and Dairy Inspector, for the month of November was read and ordered filed. Upon the recommendation of Sam D. Griffin, Chief of Police, Councilman Copeland nominated T. P. Young as special policeman with duties as a merchant police. Nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 43; nayes, none, Councilman Copeland not voting. Councilman Haynes introduced the following resolution: Whereas, on December 23, 1921, City Warrant #3695 was issued to D. B. Gracy, City Treasurer of the City of Austin, for $10,250.00, for the payment of three certain Sewer Certificates, Nos. 25, 26 and 27, each in the principal amount of $3,333.33-1/3, together with accrued interest thereon to January 1st, 1921, the amount of said Warrant to be paid out of the Earnings Fund of the Water and Light Department of the City of Austin; and Whereas, for reasons deemed good and sufficient by the City Council, it has been determined for the present to pay said amount for said account out of the Interest and Sinking Fund of the City; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the warrant above mentioned and described be recalled from the hands of the City Treasurer, and the City Clerk be and he is hereby instructed to cancel same; and the City Clerk is further instructed to issue a City Warrant for $10,250.00, payable to D. B. Gracy, City Treasurer, for the above account, out of the Interest and Sinking Fund of the City of Austin, and to deliver same to said City Treasurer. Copeland, Councilman Councilman Haynes introduced the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the sum of $810,00, same being the accrued interest on $30,000.00 Hospital Bonds of the City of Austin, dated July 1, 1921, from the date of said bonds to December 13, 1921, be and the same is hereby transferred from the City Hospital Bond Fund to the Interest and Sinking Fund. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; absent, none. The opinion of J. Bouldin Rector, City Attorney, as to the title of a part of Block No. 61, Division "E" of the City of Austin was read and ordered filed. Councilman Copeland introduced the following resolution: WHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore accepted the bid of John L. Martin in the sum of $481.00, for installing certain sterilizers, and the necessary plumbing and wiring at the City Hospital, and said Martin has done said work in accordance with said bid; and has also done certain work in connection with an X-Ray Machine at the City Hospital, amounting to $200.25, thereby making the total amount now due said Martin to be $681.25; all of which has been incurred in the equipment of said Hospital as aforesaid; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the sum of $681.25 be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the City Hospital Bond Fund, and the City Clerk is hereby instructed to draw a warrant for said amount payable to the order of said John L. Martin in full payment for the above services, The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Bearight, 5; nayes, none. Councilman Copeland introduced the following resolution: WHEREAS, the Water, Light and Power Department of the City of Austin has heretofore advanced out of its funds the sum of $425.05 for the purchase of one 37 KW transformer, which has been installed in the City Hospital and which is part of the permanent equipment thereof, and the payment for which it has heretofore been determined shall be made out of the proceeds of the sale of the Hospital Bonds dated July 1, 1921; and WHEREAS, said bonds have been sold and the proceeds thereof are now in the City Treasury, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the sum of $425.05 be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the City Hospital Bond Fund, and the City Cherk is hereby instructed to draw a warrant for said amount payable to the order of the Water, Light and Power Department of the City of Austin in full payment for the above advancement. 1 : י
