The Minutes of the regular meeting of January 19, 1922, were read and upon motion of Councilman Haynes were adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The Minutes of the regular meeting of January 26th, 1922, were read and upon motion of Councilman Haynes were adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none, The claim of E. D. Smith for damages to his car was read and upon motion of Councilman Copeland, the same was referred to Councilman Searight by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The application of C. L. Joyce to operate Ford #64032 as a service car was granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Fyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The application of Eula McRae to operate as a service car Ford #525993 was granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. Councilman Copeland nominated B. F. Thompson as special policeman at the Walker Properties. Nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Copeland present but not voting. The reports of Fred Sterzing, Assessor and Collector, A. S. Anderson, Public Weigher, Miss Marie Browne and Miss Emma Strack, Public Health Nurses, for the month of January were read and ordered filed. The report of Councilmen Eyres and Copeland on the advisability of installing an X-ray Machine at the City Hospital was received and read, and upon motion of Councilman Haynes, the same was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. Councilman Haynes moved that Councilman Copeland be authorized to enter into a contract for the purchase and installation of an X-ray Machine at the City Hospital, same to be paid for out of the Hospital Bond Fund, Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Senright, 5; nayes, none, The Council then recessed. Storncler SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: 1 Austin, Texas, February 6, 1922, The Council was called to order by the Mayor, Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; absent, none. The bids of the Carr Coal Company, The Molester Fuel Company, the Belto Coal Company, the Ira Perry Coal Company, the Calvert Coal Company, the Big Lump & Texas Company, and the Calvin Coal Company were opened and read, and after a consideration of all bids, the bid of the Big Lump Texas Coal Company was accepted as the best bid by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none, Councilman Haynes moved that W. L. Eyres, Superintendent of the Water, Light and Power Department, be authorized to enter into a contract with the Big Lump Texas Coal Company for one-half of the City's requirements, approximately 1700 tons per month, at the price of $1.75 per ton f.o.b.
