600 Searight was read and upon motion of Councilman Copeland was approved and ordered paid by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yatt, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The claim of J. A. Warren for $37.20 for extra services rendered, presented and approved by Councilman Searight, was read and upon motion of Councilman Copeland, the same was ordered approved and paid by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The Council then adjourned. REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: City Activ Austin, Texas, February 9. 1922. ! The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; absent, none. J. H. W. Williams and others appeared before the Council and submitted the following petition: "Austin, Texas, February 9, 1922, WHEREAS, heretofore towit, on the 21st day of October, 1904, the duly authorized agents of the Board of Trustees for the John T. Allen Fund executed a contract with Silas M, Johnson of Beaumont, authorizing him to assert a claim to certain lands in Texas belonging to the City of Austin under the will of John T. Allen; and WHEREAS, said Silas M. Johnson, acting under said power of attorney, has associated with himself W. D. Gordon, Thos. J. Baten, E. E. Easterling and H. M. Whitaker, all practicing attorneys at Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texns; and whereas said attorneys have prosecuted said claim to a final determination in so far as same concerns lands in the James Rafferty League in Hardin County, Texas, whereby the adverse claimants, the siouston Oil Company of Texas, et al., have paid the sum of $2750.00 in cash and have taken a judgment against the City of Austin for its one-fourth interest in the said James Rafferty League, said cause being styled C. B. Townsend et al. vs. Houston Oil Company of Texas et al., No. 3988 in the District Court of Hardin County, Texas; and whereas said attorneys have made a full and final settlement with the Board of Trustees of the Austin Public Schools, the beneficiaries under the will of John T. Allen THEREFORE, the Board of Trüstees of the Austin Public Schools, being hereunto duly authorized, the City of Austin acting by its City Council, being likewise hereby duly authorized by proper resolutions, do hereby acknowledge receipt from Silas M. The Council then recessed, SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, February 11, 1922. 601 The Council was called to order by Mayor Pro Tem Haynes. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Pro tem Haynes, Councilmen Copeland Fyres; absent, Mayor Yett, Councilman Searight. • Mayor Pro tem Haynes introduced the following resolution: WHEREAS, the City of Austin has heretoforé entered into contract with L. J. Hurst for building and installing one kitchen cabinet in the City Hospital and in accordance with said contract said Hurst has completed said work, Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the sum of $179.50 be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the City Hospital Bond Fund, and the City Clerk is hereby instructed to draw a warrant for said amount, payable to L. J. Hurst in full payment for the above contract. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Pro tem Haynes, Councilmen Copeland and Eyres, 3; nayes, none, Mayor Yett and Councilman Searight absent. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Council ouncilmen Copeland, Fyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; absent, none. The reading of the minutes of the last meetings was suspended. Councilman Haynes introduced the following resolution: WHEREAS, the Board of Equalization in consideration of complaints of owners of property made a reduction in the value of the improvements on Lot 7, Block D, Outlot 2 in Division "Z", assessed by A. M. Gribble, from $3335.00 to $2665.00, as shown by notation made by the Secrerary of said Board on the rolls, but failed to report such change to the Assessor and Collector, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the Assessor and Collector he and he is hereby authorized to accept
