SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUMICIL: Austin, Texas, March 28, 1922. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present; Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; absent, none. The application of C. L. Joyce to operate as a service car, Ford #525962 was granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The applications of James R. Ryans to operate as service cars, Nash #413902 and Hudson #433333 were granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. Councilman Haynes moved that the reading of the Minutes be suspended and that the waiting committees be heard, Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none, D. K. Woodward appeared before the Council and made statement with reference to the property of the Episcopal Church. J. W. Graham appeared before the Council and presented a petition signed by residents of Enfield, asking that certain streets in that Addition be improved and that they be given street lights at certain corners. After discussing the same, the matter was taken under advisement. B. S. Dickinson and others appeared in behalf of the Ben Hur Shrine, requesting the use of certain streets for a carnival to be given April 24-29, inclusive, Upon motion of Councilman Eyres, the petition was declined by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes, 4; nayes, Councilman Searight, S. D. Butler, Pastor of the H. F. Church, Colored, appeared and asked a remission of taxes on certain church property, said taxes amounting to $207.53. The matter was referred to the City Attorney by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none, Councilman Haynes introduced the following resolution: 641
