REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, April 13, 1922, The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Haynes and Searight, 4; absent, Councilman Eyres, Councilman Haynes moved that the reading of the Minutes of the last meetings be suspended, Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland Haynes and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Eyres absent. The following communication from Councilman Haynes was read and ordered spread upon the Minutes by the following vote: WHEREAS, by resolution of the Council, adopted April 11, 1922, the Assessor and Collector was instructed to change on his tax rolls of 1921 the valuation of $3,335.00 placed by the Board of Equalization on the improvements on Lot 30, Outlet 18, Division "p", assessed by Mrs. M. J. Bowman to $2,700.00, and to take credit for $635.00, the amount of reduction; and WHEREAS, the taxes on the original valuation have been paid in the meantime, Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the City Clerk be and he is hereby instructed to issue warrant to Mrs. Bowman, for $13.96, the amount of taxes paid on the $635.00 reduction, against the General Contingent Fund of the City. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett Councilmen Copeland, Haynes and Senright, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Fyres absent. The following communication from Councilman Haynes was read and ordered spread upon the l'inutes by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Haynes and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Tyres absent. "To the Honorable Mayor and City Council, City of Austin, Texaв. Gentlemen: The annual report for the year ending December 31, 1921, which I have submitted, including statement of bonded indebtedness of the city, balance sheet showing all assets and liabilities, and report on expenditures on account of the General Fund, Park Fund, Interest and Bink- ing Fund, Oakwood Cemetery Fund, Cemetery Purchase Fund, and Hospital Bond Fund, together with the annual report of Hon, Geo. F. Searight of the Street and Sanitary Sewer Departments for 1921, completes the annual reports of all departments of the city government, except the Water, Light and Power Department. No annual report has been rendered of this department since the administration of former Councilman F. с. Bartholomew, notwithstanding it is required by the charter. However, the present Commissioner, Hon. Walter I. Eyres, is now having prepared and will submit his annual report at an early date. This will complete the annual reports of all departments of the City as required by the charter. Respectfully, (Sgd) H. L. Haynes, Superintendent Receipts, Disburse - ments and Accounts. 11 5 6 The monthly reports of Rosa Lengefeld, Supervising Nurse at the City Hospital, C. L. Woodward, Chief of the Fire Department, and Mism Nellie M, Hall, Secretary of the United Charitios, were read and ordered filed. Upon the recommendation of Sam D. Griffin, Chief of Police, Councilman Copeland nominated Wm. E. Simpson and David huttle to be special policemen et Tast Austin base ball park, said officers to serve without pay. The nominations were confirmed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes and Searight, 3; nayes, none, Councilman Eyres absent, Councilman Copeland present but not voting. Councilman Copeland nominated W. L. Oertli as hoseman for Hose Company No.5 to succeed John Thomas resigned. Said nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes and Searight, 3; nayes, none, Councilman Eyres absent, Councilman Copeland present but not voting. Councilman Haynes introduced the following resolution: WHEREAS, the City Council by resolution reduced the valuation placed by the Board of Equalization on the improvements on Lots Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4, Block 156, owned by Mrs. Matilda Christian, for taxes of 1921, from $3,000.00 to $2,335.00; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Christian has in the meantime paid the taxes on the original valuation of $3,000.00, Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the City Clerk be and he is hereby instructed to issue warrant in favor of Mrs. Christian against the General Fund of the City for $14.63, amount of excess taxes paid by her on the $665.00 reduction allowed on said assessment. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Haynes and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Eyres absent. The Council then adjourned. کے
