    Approved two major public events closing city streets: a band concert and dance hosted by the Trades Council on Colorado Street, and a carnival by Wortham Shows for the Central Texas Fair Association on East Avenue.
  • Big Power Plant Upgrade:

    Opened and reviewed bids for a crucial 5,000 KW steam turbine and condenser, a significant investment for the city's Water, Light, and Power Department.
  • Business Sign Approvals:

    Gave the green light for Dan Fallon to install an electric sign on Congress Avenue; a similar request from Gulf Refining Company was sent for safety review.

46 The application of N. A. Ladd asking that the Trades Council be given permission to use Colorado Street from Eleventh to Thirteenth Streets on the night of September 4th, 1922, for a band concert and dance, was granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Tyres, Haynes and Searight,4; nayes, none, Councilman Copeland absent. Upon the recommendation of the Safety Committee, the application of Dan Fallon to erect an electric sign at #722 Congress Avenue was granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Copeland absent, The monthly report of Mise Nellie M. Hall, Secretary of the United Charities Association, for the month of July, 1922, was read and ordered filed. The Council then adjourned. REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: msby City Maluk Austin, Texas, August 24, 1922, The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, and Haynes; 3. absent, Councilmen Eyres and Searight. The Minutes of the last meeting were read and upon motion of Councilman Haynes were adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland and Haynes, 3; nayes, none, Councilmen Tyres and Searight absent. Harvey Harrell and others, composing a committee from the Chamber of Commerce, appeared before the Council and asked that the Central Texas Fair Association be granted the use of Fast Avenue from Sixth Street north to Eleventh Street for the purpose of holding a carnival by the Wortham Shows. The same was granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland and Haynes, 3; nayes, none, absent, Councilmen Eyres and Searight. The application of W. H. Williams, Agent of the Gulf Refining Company, for permission to erect an electric sign at #2109 Congress Avenue, upon motion of Councilman Haynes was referred to the Safety Committee, by the following vote: Ayos, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland and Haynes, 3; nayes, none, Councilmen Eyres and Searight absent. Councilman Searight then entered the Council Chamber. The Council then recessed, SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, August 29,1922, The Council met with the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; absent, none. Bids for furnishing a new turbine,etc., to the City Water, Light and Power Department were opened and read and same were referred to Councilman Eyres for his report back to the Council. The Council then adjourned, SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, August 29,1922. The Council met for the purpose of receiving and opening bids for a 5,000 KW Steam Turbine and a Condenser for use with same, to be installed at the Water, Light and Power Plant. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; absent, none. Bids were then opened as follows: K.W.
