SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, September 06, 1922, The Council met with the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Fyres, Haynes and Searight, 4; absent, Councilman Copeland. Councilman Haynes moved that the John Robinson Circus be granted permit to show in the City of Austin on September 22, 1922, upon the payment of a license fee of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00). Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Tyres, Haynes and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Copeland absent. The Council then adjourned. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Pro Tem Haynes, Councilmen Eyres and Searight, 3; absent, Mayor Yett and Councilman Copeland. The Minutes of the last meetings were read and upon motion of Councilman Eyres were adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Pro tem Haynes, Councilmen Eyres and Searight, 3; nayes, none, Mayor Yett and Councilman Copeland absent. The application of Fred G. Haller, Jr., to erect an electric sign over #709 Congress Avenue was read and Councilman Eyres moved that same be referred to the Safety Committee. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Pro tem Haynes, Councilmen Eyres and Searight, 3; nayes, none, Mayor Yett and Councilman Copeland absent. The application of the Texas Radio Corporation to erect a radio antenna was read and referred back to the applicant without action. The application of J. J. Mercer to erect a gasoline pump at #1112 Red River Street was read and Mayor Pro tem Haynes moved that same be granted, as per recommendation of the Safety Committee. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Pro tem Haynes, Councilmen Tyres and Searight, 3; nayes none; absent, Councilman Copeland and Mayor Yett. The petition of James A. Baker, Receiver of the I&GN Railway Company for permission to make certain charges in its tracks at the intersection of Bowie and West Third Streets was read and Mayor Pro tem Haynes moved that same he referred to Councilman Searight and City Engineer, C. E. Leonard, for their report back to the Council.
