84 REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, January 11, 1923 The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett. Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Bearight, 5; absent, none. The Minutes of the last meeting were read and upon moti an of Counci Iman Haynes were adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mavor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The application of Scott & Gregg to excavate underneath the sidewalk at the corner of 7th and Brazos Streets was read and Councilman Haynes moved that the application be referred to the Safety Committee. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Hayres and Searight, 5; nayes, none. Councilman Haynes introduced the following resolution: WHEREAS, the Board of Equalization, in passing upon valuations submitted by the Unit System experts, passed the value of improvements assessed by Mrs. Helena G. Collins at $8,390.00; and WHEREAS, it has been discovered that said valuation covered the value of two hauses when an a matter of fact Mrs. Collins has but one house on her lot, which is described by metes and bounds, the additional improvements charged to her assessment being owned by other parties, The refore, EE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the Assessor and Collector be authorized to correct the error in said va luation and permit Mrs. Collins to pay on the improvements at a valuation of Six Thousand Dollars ($6,000.00) and take credit for taxes on the excess valuation of $2,390.00 on said improvements. : The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyms, Haynes and Searight, 5 : nayes, none. The monthly reports of Sam D. Griffin, City Marshal, Joe T. Oliver, Business Manager City Hospital, Robert T. Rockwood, Fire Marshal, Miss Nellie M. Hall, Secretary United Charities and Fred Sterzing, Assessor and Collector, were read and ordered filed. 1 The annual report for the year 1922 of the Assessor and Collector was read and ordered filed. The following statement as to the destruction of certain bonds of the City of Austin was read and ordered filed: "Austin, Texas, January 11, 1923. THE STATE OF TIXAS, I COUNTY OF TRAVIS, 1 I CITY OF AUSTIN. This certifies that the undersigned, all together and in the presence of one another, have this day destroyed by burning, the following numbered and otherwise described bonds: We destroyed these bonds by burning them in the furnace at the City Hall in the City of Austin, Texas, on this 11th day of January, A. D. 1923: The City of Austin Street Improvement Bonds, dated July 1, 1912, numbered 46 to 50, inclusive, $1,000.00 eachThe City of Austin Sewer Bonde, dated July 1,1912, numbered 46 to 50, inclusive, $1,000.00 eachThe City of Austin Cemetery Bonda, dated July 1, 1912, numbered 19 and 20, $1,000.00 each-...
