162 SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, June 09, 1923. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes and Searight, 4; absent, Councilman Nolen. The Mayor introduced the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the City Marshal be and he is hereby instructed, in order to protect the interests of the Ranger Base Ball Association, to prevent parking of trucks, automobiles or other vehicles in the street on the east side of said base ball park, and, if, in his judgment, it is necessary to close said street during the ball games in order to protect the Association, he is hereby authorized to do so, The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Nolen absent. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; absent, none. 1 The Minutes of the last meeting were read and upon motion of Councilman Haynes were adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. Councilman Nolen introduced the following resolution: WHEREAS, on June 4, 1923, Conaway Sorrells was convicted in the Corporation Court of the City of Austin of the offence of gaming and loitering, in Cause #17043, the fine and costs imposed being $19.80, which amount hae been paid into the City Treasury by said defendant; and WHEREAS, for reasons deemed sufficient to the City Council, it is determined that said fine and costs should be remitted to said defendant; Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That said fine and costs is hereby ordered to be refunded to said defendant and the City Clerk be instructed to issue warrant of the City for $19.80, payable out of the General Fund, to said Conaway Sorrells in accordance with the premises. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none.
