REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas. August 16.1923. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 4; absent, Councilman Avery. The reading of the Minutes of the last meetings was suspended. The application of the Producers Refining Company to erect a gasoline drive-in filling station at the corner of West 16th and Lavaca Streets was read and upon motion of Councilman Searight was referred to the Safety Committee by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Avery absent. Mayor Yett introduced the following resolution: Whereas, the City Council has heretofore contracted with Dr. E. P. Schoch for the design and supervision of construction of certain works at the Water, Light and Power Plant to relieve the summer shortage of water supply, for which services the City has agreed to pay to said Schoch the sum of One Thous and Dollars ($1,000.00) if said project should prove a success; and Whereas, said Schoch has performed said services to the extent that it is proven that the works designed and supervised by him has relieved the summer shortage of water up to the present time; and Whereas, said Schoch has requested the City Council to pay him at this time the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) on account, Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the item entitled "Emergency Summer Water Supply", as contained in the budget of the Water, Light and Power Department for the year 1923, for the purpose of paying said Schoch said amount on account; and the City Clerk is instructed to draw warrant for said sum payable to said Schoch out of said fund. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Avery absent The Council then recessed. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes and Nolen, 3; absent, absent, Councilmen Avery and Searight, Councilman Nolen introduced the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: : That for good and sufficient reasons unto the City Council shown, the fine and costs, amounting to $24.25, assessed against S. J. Von Koenneritz in Cause No. 17240, in the Corporation Court of the City of Austin, Texas, on July 25th, 1923, for the offense of having more than one license number on his automobile be and the same is hereby remitted. , 179
