REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, November 8.1923. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight 5; absent, none, Councilman Avery moved that the reading of the Minutes of the last meeting be suspended until the next regular meeting. Motion prevailed by the following Vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The Council then recessed until 2:30 Ρ. Μ. AFTERNOON SESSION The petition of A. E. Sullivan and other residents of South Austin, asking that the City Council fill the ravine east of the 1200 block on South Congress Avenue was read and ordered filed, The petition of Tom J. White, Secretary of the Emancipation League, asking permission to use a part of East Avenue between 5th and 6th Streets from December 24th to 29th, inclusive, was read and Councilman Avery moved that the request be granted, same to be held under the supervision of the Police and Street Commissioners. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The committee report on the petition of Paul O. Simms Company requesting an amendment to the fire limits ordinance excluding from same Lots 7 and 8, Block 63 of the City of Austin located on East 7th and Sabine Streets, was read and Councilman Nolen moved that the whole of the north one-half of Block 63 be excluded. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The monthly reports of Mrs. R. C. Walker, Pure Food Inspector, and A. S. Anderson, Public Weigher, were read and ordered filed, The Council then recessed, SPECIAL MHETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: 1 Austin, Texas, November 14, 1923.
