Gentlemen: In accordance with the City Charter, I beg to report that I have carefully canvassed the returns of the bond election held in the City of Austin, Texas, on the 14th day of December, A. D. 1923, at which election the taxpayers of the City of Austin voted upon the issuance of Water Filtration Bonds Garbage Incinerator Bonds, and School Bonds, and find the vote cast was as follows: WARD NO. REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, January 10th, 1924, - The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; absent, none. The reading of the Minutes of the last meetings was suspended until other matters before the Council could be disposed of. Bids for the purchase of the $850,000.00 issue of Water Filtration, Garbage Incinerator and School Bonds were submitted and received by the City Council. The bids were opened, but before reading same, Councilman Haynes moved that action upon same be deferred until 2:30 P. M. in order that all bidders might withdraw their bids for amendment. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none, The Minutes of the last meetings were then read and adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The petition of N. A. Ladd, acting for the Trades Council, asking permission to use certain parts of East Avenue was granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. Upon the recommendation of the Safety Committee, Councilman Avery moved that the application of A, W. Hart for an electric sign on 3rd block on East 5th Street be granted.
