REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, January 3.1 924. : The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; absent, none. The Minutes of the last meetings were read and upon motion of Councilman Haynes were adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The application of A. W. Hart for permission to erect an electric sign on East 5th Street was read and referred to the Safety Committee by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The protest of McKean-Hilers, et al against the closing of the alley- way on East 3rd Street between Congress Avenue and Brazos Street was read and ordered filed. The application of John Kreuz to operate two service cars was granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. Councilman Searight moved that all bids for hardware and cement be rejected. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The following bids for the period beginning January 1st, 1924, and ending July 1st, 1924, were accepted: Councilman Haynes moved that the bid of the Austin American for printing for the City of Austin be accepted as the best bid. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. Councilman Nolen moved that the bid of Arnold Bakery to supply bread to the City Hospital be accepted as the best bid. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. Councilman Nolen moved that the bid of Oscar Ulit for meat and groceries for the City Hospital be accepted as the best bid. Councilman Nolen moved that all bids for drugs and prescriptions be rejected and that new bids be called for.
