REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texus, May 08, 1924.. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 4; absent, Councilman Avery. The Minutes of the last meeting were read and upon motion of Councilman Haynes were adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes, Nolen and Bearight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Avery absent. The application of the English Sign Company for permission to erect an electric sign at 121 Congress Avenue, together with a report of the Safety Committee, was read and Councilman Haynes moved that same be granted as recommended, Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Avery absent. The application of Cargill Company to erect a sign at #610 Congress Avenue, together with a report of the Safety Committee, was read and upon motion of Councilman Haynes was granted as recommended, by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Avery absent. The petition of Mary Edwards and others for the installation of a sewer line on Comal Street, New York Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue was read and referred to Councilman Avery for his report back to the Council by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Avery absent. The reports for the month of April of Fred Sterzing, Assessor and Collector, and W. D. Walker, Dairy Inspector, were read and ordered filed, The Council then recessed. SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, May 13, 1924. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes and Bearight, 3; absent, Councilmen Avery and Nolen, Councilman Haynes introduced the following resolution: WHEREAS, the Phi Kappa Psi Building Association of Austin, Texas, is delinquent in its city taxes for the years 1920 and 1921, on the East one-half of the Worth one-half of Outlot No, 41 in Division "E", City of Austin, which taxes, together with the interest accrued thereon, amounts to the aggregate sum of $639.45; and WHEREAS, penalties in the aggregate amount of $27.77 have accrued in said matters on account of such delinquencies; and WHEREAS, the City Attorney has filed suit against said Association and others for said taxes, as evidenced by Causes numbered 40319 and 40340 on the docket of the District Court of Travis County, Texas, and 295
