296 the court costs in said suits amounts in the aggregate to $27.25; and WHEREAS, for reasons deemed sufficient to the City Council said penalties amounting to $27.77 should be remitted, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That said penalties are hereby remitted, and the City Tax Assessor and Collector be and he is hereby instructed to receive from said Association the Bum of $639.45 as full payment of the City taxes and interest for the said years on said property, and to issue his receipts therefor, upon said Association exhibiting to him the receipts of the District Clerk showing that all costs in said causes have been satisfied. Councilman Haynes introduced the following resolution: WHEREAS, it appears that W. P. Grumbles in his rendition of seven cump houses on his property near Deep Eddy for taxes of 1923 at a valuation of $1000.00, which was raised by the Board of Equalization to $1500.00, by error included five camp houses that were not erected until after January 1, 1923, and, therefore, not taxable for that year, Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the Assessor and Collector be and he is hereby authorized to collect the taxes for 1923 assessed against two camp houses on said property at a valuation of $510.00 placed on same for 1922 and to take credit for the valuation of $990.00 placed on the five houses erroneously rendered. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes, Holen and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Avery absent. Councilman Haynes introduced the following resolution: WHEREAS, A. E. Carlstrom rendered an automobile for taxes of 1922 at $300.00, which rendition was passed on and approved by the Board of Equalization and the taxes paid on said valuation; and WHEREAS, the same automobile was rendered for the taxes of 1923 at the same valuation of $300.00, which, by error of the Board of Equalization, was raised to $500.00, Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the Assessor and Collector be and he is hereby instructed to correct said error on his rolls for 1923 and collect the tax on the proper valuation of $300.00 and take credit for the tax on the excess valuation. Councilman Haynes introduced the following resolution: WHEREAS, Jos. W. Brown rendered the improvements on Lots 15 and 16, Block 11, Hyde Park No. 1 at $335.00 for taxes of 1923, the same value as fixed by the Board of Equalization for 1922; and WHEREAS, by clerical error the value has been placed on the rolls of 1923 at $1235.00, Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN:. That the Assessor and Collector be and he is hereby instructed to correct the error on the rolls of 1923 and collect the taxes on the proper valuation of $335.00, taking credit for the difference of $900.00 in the valuation. Councilman Haynes laid before the Council his report as Superintendent of Receipts, Disbursements and Accounts for the year 1923. Councilman Nolen returned the bids of Griffith Drug Company, Greenwood Drug Company, Evans-Cox Drug Company, Renfro Drug Company, to furnish medical supplies to the City Hospital, and action upon same was deferred. Gillum for $9.65, payable out of the miscellaneous funds appropriated in the general budget to Department "E", and that said warrant be delivered to said Gillum upon his delivery of full release from all damages. Carlisle in comparison to valuation placed on the north half of said lot under the Unit rule and recommend that the valuation of $330.00 on the South half be reduced to $200.00 as just and equitable. Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the Assessor and Collector be and he is hereby instructed to correct said error on his rolls for 1923 and to take credit for the $130.00 reduction.
