308 SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas. May 31, 1924. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes and Searight, 4; absent, Councilman Nolen, Councilman Avery introduced the following resolution: WHEREAS, the City of Austin owns Lots 20, 21, and 22 of Block No. 2, of Duval's Subdivision of Outlot No. 1, in Division "Z", of said City, which property is not being used for corporate purposes, nor is there any reasonable anticipation that same will be needed for corporate purposes in the future; and WHEREAS, Ralph C. Goeth has offered to purchase said property from the City for a cash consideration of $3,500.00, which offer the City Council, after carefully considering the same, deems a fair price for said property; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to execute the warranty deed of the City of Austin to said Ralph C. Goeth, conveying said property, and to deliver said deed to said Goeth, upon the payment by him to the City of Austin of the full sum of $3,500.00. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Nolen absent. The band of D. B. Gracy as City Treasurer in the amount of $400,000.00 addition to his regular bond, was received and approved and ordered filed. The Minutes of the last meetings were read and upon motion of Councilman Haynes were adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The report of the Assessor and Collector for the month of hay was read and ordered filed. The reports of W. D. Walker, Dairy Inspector, Mrs. R. C. Walker, Pure Food Inspector, Public Health Nursing Association, A. S. Anderson, Public Weigher, and C. N. Avery, Superintendent Water, Light and Power Department, as to the financial condition of the Sanitary Sewer and Barton Springs funds, were read and ordered filed, The following opinion of H. B. Barnhart, Assistant City Attorney was read and ordered filed: "Austin, Texas, June 5, 1924. To the Honorable Mayor and City Council: I have been requested by Commissioner H. L. Haynes to inform your Honorable Body whether or not the Council can legally grant a permit or permission, special or otherwise, to the local druggists to place a sign ower Congress Avenue welcoming the visiting druggists coming to attend the Druggist Convention to be held in this city within the next few days.
