REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texan. June 26, 1924 The Council was called to order by the Mayor, Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes and Searight, 4; absent, Councilman Nolen. The Minutes of the last meeting were read and Councilman Avery moved that same be adopted. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Nolen absent, Upon the recommendation of the Safety Committee, the English Sign Company was granted permission to erect an electric sign at 521 Congress Avenue by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes and Senright, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Nolen absent. Councilman Haynes introduced the following resolution: WHEREAS, among sundry bills of 1923 and 1924, aggregating over $4000,00 for material and supplies furnished the City Hospital, which bills have not heretofore been approved and were found by the Auditors in the course of checking up the accounts of said Institution; and WHEREAS, a number of said bills, aggregating $750.91, per list attached, have been found just claims against the City and should be paid, even though an overdraft, Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the same are hereby approved and the City Clerk be and is hereby instructed to issue warrants for the amounts against the Hospital Fund, The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett Councilmen Avery, Haynes and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Nolen absent, The protest of Robt, P. Tooney, et al, against the establishing of an incinerator along the Barton Springs Road was read and ordered filed, The Council then recessed, SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas. June 30. 1924. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present; Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; absent, nome. Bids for supplies for the City of Austin for the period from July 1st to December 31, 1924, were opened and read and Councilman Avery moved that same be referred to the heads of the various departments for comparison and report to the Council at its next regular meeting.
