A summary of warrante issued against the General Fund of the City during the month of May was read and ordered filed, The reports of Fred Sterzing, Assessor and Collector, W. D. Walker, Dairy Inspector, and Miss Anna Fuchs, Municipal Nurse, were read and ordered filed, Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. Woodward, Chief of the Fire Department, asking permission to attend the International Association of Fire Engineers at Buffalo, New York, was read and Councilman ilaynes moved that same be granted, and that the expenses for said trip be paid out of the Fire Department. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, and Nolen, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Searight absent. , Mayor Yett moved that notice to bidders be published in the Austin American and the Dallas News for bids for the erection and construction of the pumping machinery to be installed at the City Water Filtration Plant, said bids to be received up to 9:00 o'clock A. M., July 24, 1924. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes and Nolen, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Searight absent. The application of P. G. Roach to build an iron clad building, 20x30 feet on the north end of Lot 4, Block 62, together with the committee report upon same, was read and Councilman Haynes moved that same be granted in accordance with suggestions of the Safety Committee. Councilman Nolen introduced the following ordinance: AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE OPERATION OF VEHICLES UPON THE STREETS OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS, IN THE EVENT OF ALARMS OF FIRE, ESTABLISHING FIKE LINES, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE. The ordinance was read the first time and Councilmen Haynes moved that the rule be suspended and the ordinance placed on its second reading. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, and Nolen, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Searight, absent. The ordinance was read the second time and Councilman Haynes moved that the rule be further suspended and the ordinance placed on its third reading and fimal passage.
