324 REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, August 2. 1924. The Council was called to order by the Mayor, Koll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; absent, none, The Minutes of the last meeting were read and Councilman Haynes moved that same be adopted, Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none, Mrs. Nellie T. Evans and other residents of College Court appeared before the Council and asked that the Council instruct the Commissioner of Streets and Publio Improvements to make certain street improvements in College Court. The communication of Senator Cowell, Member of the Board of Control, In re: Sand Beach Lease, was read and referred to the City Attorney, J. B. Rector, for report back to the Council. *, Councilman Avery introduced the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the six certain McClave-Mechanical stokers and equipment, heretofore installed by the McClave-Brooks Company at the Water, Light and Power Plant of the Uity of Austin and purchased from said company on condition that they would prove satisfactory after the test provided in the written contract between the City and said Company, have been tested by the City in accordance with the terms of said contract and have proved satisfactory in their operation, both in saving of fuel and labor and in all other particulars, for said period of test, and therefore same are hereby accepted by the City of Austin. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none, A committee, composed of Mrs. Hatcher, Mrs. Minter and Mrs. Spiller, appeared before the Council and asked that certain space be allotted the Girl Scouts at Barton Springs. Councilman Haynes moved that same be referred to Councilman Avery for his report back to the Council. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The application of O. A. Tiroff, Jr., to install a gasoline tank at 502 East 6th Street, together with the report of the Safety Committee upon same, was read and Councilman Haynes moved that same be granted as recommended by the Safety Committee. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The monthly reports of J. N. Littlepage, City Marshal, Fred Sterzing, Assessor and Collector, Miss Anna R. Fuchs, Public Health Nurse, Mrs. E. Schulz, Superintendent of Nurses at City Hospital, Robert Rockwood, Fire Marshal, and the Financial Report of the Street Department, were read and ordered filed, The Council then adjourned, Jareformsby Gi Celer
