350 gasoline-operated road roller, with cab and curtains, according to the specifications attached to the proposal of said Company, for the price of $5400.00, f. o. b. Frankfort, New York, the payment of which shall be made out of the 1925 budget, and the City Attorney is instructed to draw a contract in accordance with the terms of this resolution. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. Councilman Bearight introduced the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the Superintendent of Streets and Public Improvements be and he is hereby authorized to purchase from Fromme Motor Company one Ford touring car with Hassler shock-absorbers for the total price of Four Hundred Eighty-nine Dollars and Thirty Cents ($489.30) and to deliver to said Company one used Ford car, taking therefor credit for $159.00, making the net sum due said Company by the City, $330.30. 1 The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. Councilman Searight moved that the Cuban Shows be granted permission to use one block on East Avenue south of 6th Street for one week, conditioned that a deposit of Fifty Dollars cash be made with Councilman H. L. Haynes, Superintendent of the Sanitary Department, as a guarantee that the streets would be left in as sanitary condition as they were found. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. AFTERNOON SESSION: Councilman Searight moved that the pay roll for guards enforcing the quarantine at the State Lunatic Asylum from September 29th to October 14th, inclusive, amounting to $1452.50, be ordered approved and paid. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, and Searight, 4; absent, Councilman Nolen. The Councoil then recessed. SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, October 18, 1924. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; absent, none. Councilman Haynes introduced the following resolution: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE IN BEHALF OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN THE CERTAIN CONTRACT BETWEEN SAID CITY AND SUPERIOR INCINERATOR COMPANY OF TEXAS, FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A GARBAGE INCINERATOR PLANT. Whereas, the Superior Incinerator Company of Texas has heretofore submitted its bid to the City Council for the construction of a garbage in- cinerator plant for the City of Austin, in accordance with the plans and 1 : specifications attached to said bid, which said bid has been duly accepted by the City Council; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to execute the contract therefor in behalf of the City of Austin, as presented and approved by the City Attorney. The Minutes of the last meeting were read and Councilman Haynes moved that same be adopted. MoWhorter complaining of condition of West Johanna Street in South Austin was read and Councilman Haynes moved that same be referred to Councilman Searight. Pitts was read and or dered filed, B. E. Giesecke appeared before the Council and asked permission to inclose certain portions of West Avenue between 12th and 13th Streets for the convenience of the contractor building an addition to the Junior High School. Councilman Haynes moved that the matter be referred to the City Engineer and Street Commissioner for action, Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The communication of P. G. Reynolds offering to buy or lease city lot at the corner of East 11th and Red River Streets was read and Councilman Searight moved that the proposition be declined. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The report of the Safety Committee upon the application of Davis Brothers for permission to install a gasoline pump and storage tank at 99 Congress Avenue was read and Councilman Avery moved that same be granted as recommended by the Safety Committee.
