352 Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The report of C. N. Avery, Superintendent of the Water, Light and Power Department of the City of Austin for the month ending September 30, 1924, was read and ordered filed. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The Council then adjourned, Jory Jonsby REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Clerk AUSTIN, Texas. October 30, 1924. The Council was called to order by the Mayor, Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; absent, none, The Minutes of the last meeting were read and Councilman Avery moved that same be adopted. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none, A committee, composed of Geo. S. Dowell and other citizens of Seventh Ward, appeared before the Council and protested against the erection of an incinerator plant in the Seventh Ward, The petition of John H. Caldwell and others, protesting against the dust created by the contractors building an addition to the Junior High School, was read and Councilman Haynes moved that the petition be referred to the Police Commissioner to take such action as he sees proper to abate the nuisance. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The invitation of Travis Post No. 6 of the American Legion to participate in the parade on Armistice Day was read and Councilman Avery moved that the invitation be accepted, with thanks. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. Councilman Searight moved that theclaims of the Western Union Telegraph Company for $10.70, and the Aetna Life Insurance Company for $25.18, and the expense account of A. L. Bugg for $37.33, be approved and ordered paid. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The Council then retired to the City Hall furnace room and destroyed, by burning, the following bonds; according to the certificate of the Mayor and City Councilmen: i i "Austin, Texas, October 30, 1924. AFTERNOON SESSION Councilman Haynes laid before the Council an emergency pay roll, in the amount of $609.50, for guarding small pox at the State Lunatic Asylum an d Councilman Nolen moved that same be approved and ordered paid. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen, 4; nayes, none, Council Searight absent. Claims, in the amount of $576.40, against the Police Department for the months of September and October, 1924, were presented and Councilman Nolen moved that same be approved and ordered paid, Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes and Nolen, 43; nayes, none, Councilman Searight absent.
