370 REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas. January 8. 1925. The Council was called to order by the liayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett 5; absent, none, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, Councilman Haynes moved that the reading of the Minutes be suspended and the Council recess until ten o'clock A. M., January 10th, 1925. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The Council then recessed, SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, January 10,1925. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; absent, none. The Minutes of the last meeting were read and Councilman Avery moved that same be adopted. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none, The communication of R. Councilman Haynes introduced the following resolution; That the following emergency and provisional appropriations are made for the benefit of the several departments which they may serve: For Department "A", Mayor and Superintendent of Public Affairs- 3,500.00 Department "B", Revenue 10 1,500.00 11 Department "B", Sanitary ---- 5,000.00 " Department "D", City Hall 1,800.00 " Department "C", Water, Light and Power Department 25,000.00 11 Department "C", Sanitary Sewer Fund 1,500.00 10 Department "D", Streets 18,500.00 Department "E", Police 3,600.00 " Department "E", Fire 15,000.00 1 Department "A", Hospital 3,500.00 10 Department "A", Sub-Department Public Health 400.00 " Public Health 250.00 " Parks 1,000.00 H General Fund (Contingent) 2,000.00 11 Oakwood Cemetery 1,000.00 11 Oakwood Annex 1,000.00 Councilman Haynes introduced the following resolution: WHEREAS, Peyton Jones procured a license from the city tax assessor and collector for running a service car, amounting to $6.25, and paid in cash $3.25 and gave a check for $3.00, and the check having been turned down and still remaining unpaid, Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the license of said Peyton Jones be and same is hereby cancelled and a warrant be issued to the Collector for $3.00 for the unpaid check. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The Mayor introduced the following resolutions: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the sum of Eighteen Thousand, Three Hundred, Eighty-nine Dollars and Sixteen Cents ($18,389.16) be and the same is hereby transferred from the Earnings Fund of the Water, Light and Power Department to the General Street Fund of the City of Austin; said amount being the amount of overdraft of the General Street Fund on December 31, 1923. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the sum of One Hundred, Forty-four Thousand, Six Hundred, Thirtynine Dollars ($144,639.00) be and the same is hereby transferred from the Earnings Fund of the Water, Light and Power Department to the General Fund of the City of Austin, said amount being the amount of overdraft of the General Fund on December 31, 1923. A. C. Baldwin and Prof. J. C. Bryant appeared before the Council and protested against the above transfers. After hearing said protest, Councilman Haynes moved the adoption of the resolution as read. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The Council then adjourned. Bouldin Rector, City Attorney, with reference to holding the municipal election on February 2, 1925, was read and Councilman Haynes moved that action upon said opinion be deferred until Friday, January 2, 1925, at ten o'clock A.
