Councilman Haynes introduced the following resolution: WHEREAS, the Unit System experts in valuing the improvements on property of John Freeman, corner of West 10th and West Lynn Streets, placed same at $1640.00; and WHEREAS, said improvements consist of an old box house, built more than fifty years ago, and is now, and has been occupied by a family of negroes for the past twenty years, therefore the valuation placed on said improvements is erroneous and excessive and as a matter of equity should be reduced to $600.00, Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the Assessor and Collector be and he is hereby instructed to correct the assessment and accept payment of taxes on same at a valuation of $600.00.
