454 SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, July 29, 1925. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes and Nolen, 4; absent, Councilman Searight. Councilman Avery moved that Councilman Nolen be authorized to appoint a Paving Inspector. Motion repvailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, and Nolen, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Searight absent. Councilman Avery moved that the loose wooden blocks be removed from Fourth Street in the immediate vicinity of the Swann-Schulle Furniture Company. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, and Nolen, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Searight absent. A committee from the First Nazarene Church on San Marcos Street appeared before the Council and requested the loan of one of the fire bells. Councilman Nolen moved that the request be granted provided the bell be returned to the City on demand. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, and Nolen, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Searight absent. The petition the the property owners on East 11th Street to pave from San Jacinto to Red River Streets was read and filed for future action. Councilman Avery introduced the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That, effective August 1st, 1925, and until further action of the City Council, the existing charges for water, as promulgated by schedule of rates last adopted, shall be amended so as to establish and authorize a discount of 50% at existing rates on all accounts for water consumed in excess of 11,100 gallons, as shown by meter readings on and after said August let, provided the accounts for same are paid on or before the 10th day of the succeeding month; and provided further, that this amendment shall not apply to accounts incurred under the terms of any special contract. , The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes and Nolen, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Searight absent.
