: SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, July 31, 1925, The Councilwas called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen, 4; absent, Councilman Searight. The application of F. D. Badger to erect an electric sign at 108 West 7th Street, together with the Committee's report upon same, was read and same was granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, and Nolen, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Searight absent. Bids for the construction of Barton Creek Bridge were opened and read and Councilman Nolen moved that bids and certified checks be returned to all but the three lowest bidders. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, and Nolen, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Searight absent. Mayor Yett moved that a committee, composed of C. N. Avery, Harry W. Nolen J. A. Warren and Ino 8. Fenner be appointed to check over bids and recommend to the Council the awarding of contract, and to make their report to the City Council on Tuesday, August 4th, at ten o'clock, A. M. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, and Nolen, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Searight absent. The Council then rесеssеd. The following report of the Committee on the awarding of contract for Barton Oreek Bridge was read: "Austin, Texas, July 31,1925. Hon. W. D. Yett, Mayor, and City Commissioners, Austin, Teхав. Gentlemen: As a committee appointed by Mayor Yett to tabulate and study the bids received today for the construction of Barton Creek Bridge and to make recommendation as to the award, we wish to state that it is our conclusion that the bid of A. A. Mundt is the lowest and best bid received among the eight read. We therefore recommend to the City Council of the City of Austin that the bid of A. A. Mundt of Austin, in the lump sum of $26,288.00 for the construction of said Barton Creek Bridge, together with the unit prices for increases or decreases in the quantities as shown on the plans and in the specifications for the construction of said bridge as prepared by The Terrell-Bartlett Engineers, Inc of San Antonio, Texas, be accepted, and that the City Attorney be authorized to prepare a contract in triplicate for the proper execution of the parties.
