The petition of Friendly Will Baptist Church, Colored, of South Austin asking the loan of one of the fire bells, to be used at the new church building, was read and Councilman Haynes moved that the request be granted Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery Haynes and Nolen, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Searight absent. The application of Chris Callan to install a gasoline pump at the corner of West 9th and Colorado Streets was read and Councimlan Avery move that same be referred to the Safety Committee. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes and Nolen, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Searight absent. 1 AFTERNOON SESSION The Mayor laid before the Council the following ordinance: AN ORDINANCE REGULATING TRAFFIC ON A CERTAIN PORTION OF BRAZOS STREET IN THE CITY OF AUSTIN, CUMULATIVE OF CERTAIN ORDINANCES HERETOFORE ORDAINED, REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES. The ordinance was read the first time and Councilman Avery moved that the rule be suspended and the ordinance be placed on its second reading. Kellesberger, City Engineer, in the matter of renumbering of houses on Speedway between 19th and 20th Streets, was read and Councilman Avery moved that City Attorney be instructed to draw proper resolution and present same at the next regular meeting of the City Council, embracing renumbering as suggested as No. 2 on plat. Kirby to erect an iron-olad garage at the Tear of 207 Congress Avenue was read and Councilman Avery moved that same be referred to the Safety Committee. Crawford and others, asking the City Council to have the ravine on South Congress Avenue filled by dumping the sanitary trash from the trash carte into same, was read and Councilman Avery moved that the Sanitary Department be instructed to comply with said request.
