1 509 Bids for city supplies for six months beginning January 05, 1926, were presented by Councilman Haynes, and same were opened and read. Councilman Avery moved that the bid of the Austin Statesman to do the city printing for the six months beginning January 1st, 1926, at 64 per agate line, be accepted as the lowest and best bid. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Nolen absent. Councilman Haynes moved that the bid of Wm. Tears for hauling colored paupers be accepted as the lowest and best bid. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Nolen absent. Mayor Yett moved that all bids for hospital supplies be declined. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Nolen absent. The Council then recessed. SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, January 5, 1926. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes and Searight, 3; absent, Councilmen Avery and Nolen, 2. Councilman Haynes moved that the improvements at 600 West 17th Street, owned by Mrs. McDonald, at the request of the Board of Equalization be reduced from $5000.00 to $4500.00. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes and Searight, 3; nayes, none, Councilmen Avery and Nolen absent. Councilman Haynes moved that the Buick car, 1922 Model, belonging to W. R. Hickey be reduced from $400.00 to $300.00. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes and Searight, 3; nayes, none, Councilmen Avery and Nolen absent, 2. Councilman Haynes moved that the valuation of $200.00 as placed by the Board of Equalization upon a Ford car belonging to T. H. Henderson be reduced to $150.00. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes and Searight, 3; nayes, none, Councilmen Avery and Nolen absent, 2. Councilman Haynes moved that, in accordance with the recommendation of the Board of Equalization, the valuation placed upon Lots 31 and 32, Block 2, Hyde Park Addition #2 of the City of Austin be reduced from $350.00 to $265.00.
