544 filed. The monthly reports of Fred Sterzing, Assessor and Collector, W. R. Davis, Bookkeeper for the Bewer Department, and A. S. Anderson, Public Weigher, were read and ordered filed. The Council then adjourned. REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, March 11, 1926. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen, and Searight, 5; absent, none. The Minutes of the last meeting were read and Councilman Haynes moved that same be adopted: Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen, and Searight, 5; nayes, none. Fred C. Von Rosenberg, Attorney for John R. Lawrence and wife, appeared before the Council in reference to tax suit, No. 41380, City of Austin vs. John R. Lawrence, et al., now pending, and Councilman Haynes moved that the offer of a compromise be referred to J. Bouldin Rector, City Attorney, J. W. Maxwell, and F. C. Von Rosenberg, Attorneys, for their report back to the Council. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen, and Searight, 5; nayes, none. W. S. Drake and Rudolph Mueller appeared before the Council and asked that Weet 2nd Street, from the Avenue to Incinerator Plant, be improved. Mayor Yett appointed a committee, composed of Councilman Avery, J. Bouldin Rector, City Attorney, and 0. E. Leonard, City Engineer, to investigate and report back to the Council. The petition of E. J. Smith and others, asking that the city erect a bridge over East 17th Street was read and Councilman Avery moved that the petition be referred to the Street Commissioner. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen, and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The communication of T. B. Trotter & Company, re: audit of city books, was read and Councilman Haynes moved that same be referred to the City Attorney for proper resolution to be drawn. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen, and Bearight, 5; nayes, none. The Austin Trades Council asked permission to use East Avenue from Sixth to Fourth Streets for the purpose of presenting Dodson's World's Fair Shows for the week of April 12th to 17th, 1926. Councilman Haynes moved that same be granted and that a deposit of Fifty Dollars be made with Councilman Haynes for the purpose of guaranteeing that the streets would be left in a clean, sanitary condition. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen, and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The report of the Safety Committee upon the application of A. A. Eck to install a gasoline tank at 1300 South Congress Avenue was read and Councilman Avery moved that same be adopted. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen, and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The claim of Scott & Gregg, Physicians, for services rendered F. M. Giles, City Fireman, was presented and Councilman Avery moved that same be referred to the Superintendent of Police. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen, and Searight, 5; nayes, none. filed. The report of C. N. Avery for the month of February was read and ordered Bide of J. P. McDonald, Julius F. Johnson, Johnson Brothers, C.A.Maufrais Carl Knape, Ben Knape, and Austin Bridge Company, to build a storm sewer through Oakwood Cemetery were opened and read and Councilman Avery moved that same be referred to the City Engineer for his report back to the Council at ten o'clock Friday, March 12th, 1926. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen, and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The Council then recessed. SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, March 12,1926. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, and Searight, 4; absent, Councilman Nolen. The report of C. E. Leonard, City Engineer, on bids for construction of storm sewer through Oakwood Cemetery was laid before the Council and Councilman Searight moved that the bid of Johnson Brothers be accepted as the best bid. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Nolen absent. The Council then adjourned. Councilman Haynes introduced his annual report for the year 1925 as Superintendent of Receipts, Disbursements and Accounts.
