SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, May 18, 1926, The Council met with the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, and Nolen, 4; absent, Councilman Searight. Councilman Nolen moved that the Seagrave pumper, after being thoroughly inspected and having met the requirements as per contract, be accepted and that City Warrant for $2500.00 be drawn against the miscellaneous fund of the Fire Department as first payment, as set out in said contract. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, and Nolen, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Searight absent. The Council then recessed until 7:30 P. M. NIGHT SESSION All members present: The Mayor laid before the Council the following ordinance: AN ORDINANCE ORDERING AN ELECTION TΟ ΟΒΤΑΙΝ THE CONSENT OF THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS, TO THE ISSUANCE OF BONDS BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE PURPOSES OF: (1) THE CONSTRUCTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF PUBLIC FREE SOHOOL BUILDINGS AND THE PURCHASE OF SITES AND EQUIPMENT THEREFOR; AND (2) THE CONSTRUCTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF HOSPITAL BUILDINGS AND THE PURCHASE OF EQUIPMENT THEREFOR. The ordinance was read the first time and Councilman Avery moved that the rule be suspended and the ordinance placed on its second reading. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Counoilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen, and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The ordinance was read the second time and Councilmen Avery moved a further suspension of the rule and the ordinance placed on its third reading and final passage. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen, and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The ordinance was read the third time and Councilman Avery moved that same be finally passed. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen, and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The Council then recessed. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen and Searight; absent, none. At the request of the Board of Directors of the United Charitieв, the Mayor invited the newly-elected Council to meet with the City Council to discuss the financial condition and proper handling of the work of the United Charities. The City Council agreed to care for same until July 1st, 1926. The Council then adjourned. Joi 563
