AFTERNOON SESSION: Present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes and Nolen, 3; absent, CouncilAvery and men' Searight; Councilman Avery having been exoused to attend the meeting of the committee of the TP&L. Councilman Haynes moved that the Council recess until ten o'clock A.M., June 18th, 1926. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes and Nolen, 3; absent, Councilmen Avery and Searight. : RECESSED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, June 18th, 1926. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes and Nolen, 3; absent, Councilmen Avery and Searight, 2. Councilman Haynes moved that the Council recess until three o'clock P.M. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes and Nolen, 3; nayes, none, Councilmen Avery and Searight absent. The Minutes of the last meeting were read and Councilman Haynes moved that same be adopted. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes and Nolen, 3; nayes, none, Councilmen Avery and Searight absent. , The petition of Carl Wendlandt & Sons, asking permission to close an alley for a distance of fifty feet in Outlot 43, Division "B" was read and Councilman Haynes moved that same be referred to the City Engineer for his report back to the Council. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes and Nolen, 3; nayes, none, Councilmen Avery and Searight absent. The report of the Safety Committee upon the application of Nick Ling to install a gasoline storage tank at 611 Congress Avenue was read and Councilman Haynes moved that same be granted as recommended by the Committee. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes and Nolen, 3; nayes, none, Councilmen Avery and Searight absent. The report of the Safety Committee upon the application of the Coca Cola Bottling Works to install a gasoline storage tank at 311 Colorado Street was read and Councilman Haynes moved that same be granted as recommended by the Safety Committee. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes and Nolen, 3; nayes, none, Councilmen Avery and Searight absent. Councilman Haynes introduced the following resolution: WHEREAS, as shown by statement to the City Treasurer, the total of Interest Coupons and all bonds of the City of Austin due on July 1, 1926, amounts to $166,045.00 (including Refunding Bonds Nos. 352 to 390, inclusive, of the Water, Light and Power Department, amounting to $39,000.00, payable by said Department); and 575 576 WHEREAS, there exists an overdraft in the Water, Light and Power Department at this time and the Interest and Sinking Fund of the City having a surplus in excess of the $39,000.00, Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the Superintendent of Receipts, Disbursements and Accounts be and he is hereby authorized to have warrant for said $39,000.00 drawn against the Interest and Sinking Fund Account, said fund to be reimbursed by an appropriation of the amount in the budget of the Water, Light and Power Department for 1927. Councilman Nolen moved that the above resolution be adopted. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes and Nolen, 3; nayes, none, Councilmen Avery and Searight absent. The communication of Hart, Patterson & Hart, Attorneys for the Gracy Title Guaranty Company, offering to make settlement for taxes on a basis of $20,000.00, was read and Councilman Nolen moved that the City Attorney be authorized to accept the proposition. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes and Nolen, 3; nayes, none, Councilmen Avery and Searight absent. Councilman Haynes moved that the Council recess until ten o'clock А. М. Tuesday, June 22nd, 1926, for the purpose of considering the final draft of the proposed ordinance on the Texas Power & Light Company's contract. RECESSED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, June 22, 1926, The Council was called to order by the Mayor: Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Avery, Haynes, Nolen, and sea- right, 5; absent, none. Dr. P. W. McFadden, Chairman of the Committee from the Council-elect, and W. H. Dodson, Chairman of the Committee from the Chamber of Commerce, appeared before the Council and advised that they would withhold the approval of the Ordinance on the TPål proposition. Mayor Yett introduced the following communication from W. B. Head, Chairman Board of Directors of the Texas Power & Light Company: "Austin, Texas, June 17, 1926. TO THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS. Gentlemen: The Texas Power & Light Company herewith proposes to reconstruct and complete the Austin dam and hydro electric generating station, to extend its electric transmission system to the City of Austin, to connect said hydro electric generating station and the steam electric generating station, now owned and operated by the City of Austin, with its interconnected transmission system, and to supply said city, for its said electric transmission system, such electric power and energy as said City may require in the operation of its waterworks system, street lighting system and electric distribution system, not to exceed 50,000 K. W. all in accordance with the terms and provisions of an Ordinance herewith transmitted, upon the condition that said proposal be
