1 REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, August 05, 1926, The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor McFadden, Councilmen Mueller and Pannell, 3; absent, Councilmen Barker and Reed, 2. S. E. Damon, Attorney for Jack Padgett, Editor of the Sunday Morning News, appeared before the Council and presented a claim for advertising, account of Barton Springs. Councilman Pannell moved that action upon said claim be deferred until a full Council was present. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor McFadden, Councilmen Mueller and Pannell, 3; nayes, none, Councilman Barker and Reed absent. Mayor McFadden moved that the Minutes of the last meeting be read, and after reading of same, Councilman Pannell moved that same be adopted. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor McFadden, Councilmen Mueller and Pannell, 3; nayes, none, Councilmen Barker and Reed absent. Mayor MoFadden laid before the Council the following ordinance: AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE QUITOLAIM DEED OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN TO A STRIP OF THREE FEET OF LAND EAST OF AND ADJOINING THE LOTS IN BLOOKS 3 AND 4 OF CHARLES JOHNSON ADDITION, FOR THE CONSIDERATIONS EXPRESSED IN THIS ORDINANCE. The ordinance was read the first time and Councilman Pannell moved that the rule be suspended and the ordinance placed on its second reading. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor McFadden, Councilmen Mueller and Pannell, 3; nayes, none, Councilmen Barker and Reed absent. The ordinance was read the second time and Councilman Pannell moved a further suspension of the rule and the ordinance placed on its third reading and final passage. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor McFadden, Councilmen Mueller and Pannell, 3; nayes, none, Councilmen Barker and Reed absent. The ordinance was read the third time and Councilman Pannell moved that same be finally passed. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor McFadden, Councilmen Mueller and Pannell, 3; nayes, none, Councilmen Barker and Reed absent. Councilman Reed entered the Council Chamber. Councilman Pannell moved that the ordinance pertaining to the removal of gasoline ourb pumps be enforced and that the owners of same be given ninety days within which to comply with said ordinance, and that City Manager Johnson be directed to notify all owners of curb pumps now in use. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor McFadden, Councilmen Mueller, Pannell, and Reed, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Barker absent. The Council then adjourned. C ca.den Magot 599
