M Faddeur way or REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, August 19,1926. The Council was called to order by Mayor Pro tem Mueller. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Pro Tem Mueller, Councilmen Pannell and Reed, 3; absent, Mayor MoFadden and Councilman Barker absent. The Board of Equalization, composed of W. A. Pillow, Chairman, Simon Gillis and E. J. Barkley, met with the City Council for a general discussion and outline of their work preparatory to entering upon same. , The Minutes of the last meeting were read and Mayor Pro tem Kueller moved that same be adopted. City Manager Johnson was authorized by the Council to employ a draftsman temporarily for the Sewer Department. Oity Manager Johnson stated to the Council that he advised Dr. Harper that he felt the Council would be willing to make the extension of sewer line as originally agreed upon by the old Council at 50 per foot for the main line and 35¢ for laterals, provided he would put the money up in advance. Dr. Harper was not agreeable to this proposition, as he claimed that the old Council had agreed to make the extension payable when the work was completed. , The Council voted against permitting trash cans on the streets of the City of Austin. The Hulwick matter came before the Council and same was referred to the City Attorney to be adjusted by him and the City Manager on the best basis possible. Two petitions signed by residents of the City in regard to dairies within the city limits was referred to the City Attorney. A petition asking that the Council pass an ordinance restricting the parking of automobiles on West 5th Street between Congresa Avenue and Colorado Street to one hour between the hours of 7:00 A. M. and 6:00 P. M. was referred to the City Attorney. Councilman Reed moved that the meeting be recessed, subject to call of the Mayor. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Pro tem Mueller, Councilmen Pannell and Reed, 3; nayes, none, Mayor McFadden and Councilman Barker absent. REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, September 2,1926. The meeting was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor McFadden, Councilmen Barker, Mueller, and Pannell 4; absent, Councilman Reed. The Minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted. Councilman Reed then entered the Council Chamber. Councilman Reed moved that the City Manager be authorized to dispose of the bells at the fire stations for the best price obtainable. Councilman Pannel1 seconded the motion. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Mofadden, Councilmen Barker, Mueller, Pannell, and Reed, 5; nayes, none. Councilman Barker moved that it be the sense of the Council that the City enter into a permanent street paving program at the earliest possible date. Councilman Pannell seconded the motion. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor McFadden, Councilmen Barker, Mueller, Pannell, and Reed, 5; nayes, none. Councilman Mueller moved that the amounts for advertising of Barton Springs due the American Publishing Company, in the sum of $327.00, the Sunday Morning News, in the sum of $204.75, the Texas Posten, in the sum of $47.25, and the Daily Texan, in the sum of $21.00, be allowed, and provision be made for the payment of same in next year's budget. Councilman Pannell seconded the motion. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor McFadden, Councilmen Barker Mueller, Pannell, and Reed, 5; nayes, none.
