97 Mayor HoFadden laid before the Council the following resolution: WHEREAS, the improvements on Lot 18, Block 4, Outlot 70, Division "D" Byrne Addition, City of Austin, Texas, were assessed for taxes for the year 1926; and WHEREAS, it appears from the affidavit of Chas. E. Newton, owner of said property, that there were no improvements on said property on January 1st, 1926 and the City Council so finds; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the City Tax Assessor and Collector be instructed to strike said assessment as to said improvements from the rolls. Councilman Reed moved the adoption of the above resolution. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor McFadden, Councilmen Pannell and Reed, 3; nays, none, Councilmen Barker and Steck absent. Mayor McFadden laid before the Council the following resolution: WHEREAS, there was assessed for taxes for the year 1926 a certain 1925 model Hudson Coach automobile as the property of C. A. Schutze in the sum of $700.00; and WHEREAS, it has been shown that said assessment is excessive and that same should be reduced to $450.00; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT said assessment be corrected so as to read $450.00, and that such fact be noted on the tax roll. Councilman Reed moved the adoption of the above resolution. City Manager Johnson was authorized by the Council to pay the claim of Miss Hornsby, in the amount of $24.85, for damages to her automobile by reason of a collision with one of the City's motorcycles. City Manager Johnson laid before the Council the matter of an increase in the budget appropriation of the following: Salary of One Truck Driver, Street Department, from $95.00 to $100.00 per month; Salary of Blacksmith, Street Department, from $95.00 to $100.00 per month; Gasoline allowance for Paving Inspector from $25.00 to $30.00 per month; Salary of Police and Grounds Man at Barton Springs from $110.00 to $130.00 during the bathing season.
