A letter from the Board of Trustees of Austin Public Schools, in the matter of interest and penalties on delinquent taxes due the schools of the city, was read and filed. Councilman Steck moved that the Council recess, subject to call of the Mayor. Motion was seconded by Councilman Mueller and same prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor McFadden, Councilmen Mueller, Pannell, and Steck, 4; nays, none, Councilman Reed absent. The ordinance was reed the second time and Councilman Mueller moved that the rule be suspended and the ordinance placed on its third reading. Donnan sppeared before the Council and requested that the city include in its budget for 1988 an appropriation of Six Hundred Dollars for the Children's Home. The matter was referred to the City Manager, Mesers. Horace Bernhart, representing the Lions Club, and Oswald Petit, Representative of the National Playgrounds Association of America, were heard with reference to the establishment of a Playgrounds and Recreation Department for the City of Austin. The Council advised them that the matter would be taken under advisement with a view to determining the best means for providing same. Judge Wheeler and Kessre. Fuller and Bowman, Bond Buyers, were heard with reference to the sale at this time of the issue of Hospital Eonds. The matter was taken under advisement. Hugo Kuehre, Architect for the now hospital building, gave the Council a report on the progress of his work. Councilman Reed introduced the following resolution: THEREAS, there rac assessed against the Scottish Rite Holding Association certain improvements on Block 32, in Division "E", of the City of Austin, at the value of $550.00, for the years 1924, 1925 and 1926; and WHEREAS, it is shown that said improvements consisted during said timев of old, dilapidated, stone walls which are the remnants of a house that formerly
