92 SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, February 08, 1929. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor McFadden, Councilmen Mueller, Pannell, and Steck, 4; absent, Councilman Reed, 1. The meeting was called for the purpose of awarding bids for equipment for the City's Power Plant. Councilman Mueller moved that the bid of the Westinghouse Electric & Manufaoturing Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for one 7500 KW Steam Turbo Generator, and one 10000 sq. ft. Surface Condenser and Auxiliaries, in the total amount of $152,300.00 f.o.b. Austin, Texas, be accepted as the lowest and best bid, and that the City Manager be directed to instruct the U.G.I. Contracting Company to proceed with the drawing of a contract with said Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Company for the purchase of this equipment in accordance with said bid. Motion was seconded by Mayor McFadden, and same prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor MoFadden, Councilmen Mueller, Pannell, and Steck, 4; nays, none, Councilman Reed absent. Councilman Mueller moved that the bid of B. F. Sturtevant Company of Boston, Massachusetts, for three 4-inch Forced Draft Fans, in the amount of $2743.00 f.o.b. Austin, Texas, or three 6-inch Forced Draft Fans, in the amount of $3117.00 f.o.b. Austin, Texas, be accepted as the best bid; it to be determined later whether the 4-inch or 6-inch fans shall be used; and that the City Manager be directed to instruct the U. G. I. Contracting Company to proceed with the drawing of a contract with said B. F. Sturtevant Company for the purchase of this equipment in accordance with said bid. Motion was seconded by Mayor McFadden, and same prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor MoFadden, Councilmen Mueller, Pannell, and Steck, 4; nays, none, Councilman Reed absent. Councilman Mueller moved that the bid of A. M. Lookett & Company of Houston, Texas, for two Worthington Boiler Feed Pumps, at a total cost of $2878.00 f.๑.๖. Austin, Texas, be accepted as the best bid and that the City Manager be directed to instruct the U. G. I. Contracting Company to proceed with the drawing of a contract with said A. M. Lockett & Company for the purchase of this equipment in accordance with said bid. Motion was seconded by Mayor MoFadden, and same prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor MoFadden, Councilmen Mueller, Pannell, and Steck, 4; naye, none, Councilman Reed absent. Councilman Mueller moved that the Council recess, subject to call of the Mayor.
