The application of Gulf Refining Company for permit to erect a gasoline filling station at the northeast corner of Nineteenth and Rio Grande Streets came before the Council. Councilman Mueller moved that the permit be granted, subject to plans and specifications for said station being submitted to and approved by the Building Inspector and the City Engineer. Motion was seconded by Councilman Alford and same prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Councilman Alford, Mayor MoFadden, Councilmen Mueller and Steck, 4; nays, none; Councilman Gillis absent, 1. Councilman Gillis, by written communication to the Mayor, stated that he was unable to attend the meeting, but was in favor of granting a permit to the Gulf Refining Company to erect a gasoline filling station at northeast corner of Nineteenth and Rio Grande Streets.
