REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: 499 : Austin, Texas, November 03, 1932. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll cell showed the following members present: Councilmen Alford, Gillis, Mayor MoFadden, Councilman Mueller, 4; absent, Councilman Steck, 1. The Minutes of the last meeting were read and Councilman Mueller moved the adoption of same as read. Motion was seconded by Councilman Gillis and same prevailed by the following vote: Ayee, Councilmen Alford, Gillis, Mayor McFadden, Councilman Mueller, 4; nays, none; Councilman Steck absent, 1. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: WHEREAS, the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company has presented to the City Council tentative maps and plans showing the proposed construction of its pole linee in the streets in the City of Austin hereafter named, and suid mape or plans have been considered by the Oity Engineer; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company be and the same is hereby permitted to construct its pole lines in the following streets: (1) An underground conduit in EAST NINETEENTH STREET from the west line of San Jacinto Street to a point 32 feet north of and 30 feet east of the intersection of the centerline of said East Nineteenth Street and the centerline of Speedway as same are established by monuments, the centerline of which conduit shall be 32 feet north of and parallel to said monumented centerline of East Nineteenth Street. Said underground conduit described above shall have a cover of not less than 18 inches. (2) An underground conduit in SPEEDWAY, beginning at a point 32 feet north of and 30 feet east of the centerline of East Nineteenth Street and the centerline of Speedway as Bame are established by monuments. Thence in a northerly direction 30 feet east of and parallel to said monumented centerline of Speedway to a point one foot south of the south line of East Twenty-first Street. Said underground conduit described above shall have a cover of not less than 18 inches. (3) An underground conduit across SPEEDWAY and across EAST TWENTY-FIRST STREET according to the following centerline description: Beginning at a point one foot south of and 30 feet east of the intersection of the monumented centerline of Speedway and the south line of East Twenty-first Street. Thence N. 85° W. crossing Speedway following a line perpendicular to the centerline of Speedway a distance of approximately 49 feet to a point one foot east of the east face of the west curb of Speedway. Thence in a northwesterly direction following a line one foot east or northeast of and parallel to the face of the curb which connects the west curb of Speedway with the south ourb of East Twenty-first Street to a point one foot west of the west line of Speedway. Thence N. 5° E. crossing East Twenty-first Street following a line perpendicular to the centerline of said East Twenty-first Street to a point on the north line of said street. Said underground conduit described above shall have a cover of not less than 18 inches. BE IT UNDERSTOOD THAT all concrete or asphalt street surfaces damaged or destroyed during the course of construction of the underground conduit described above shall be replaced by city forces in a manner approved by the Oity Engineer, on the basis of the actual cost of the materiale and labor necessary to make the said replacements, plus ten per cent thereof; and BE IT FURTHER UNDERSTOOD THAT the line connecting the manhole in Nineteenth Street east. of Brazos Street with the underground conduit line on the north side of said East Nineteenth Street as described above shall be constructed by rushing or by tunnelling the pavement in : said East Nineteenth Street and no street surface pavement shall be removed or disturbed before or after this operation. i The Southwestern Bell Telephone Company is hereby put upon rotice thet the City of Austin does not guarantee that the space assigned above is clear from other underground utilities, but is based upon the best records we have at hand, and that the minimum depth 500 stated does not have any reference to the fact that creater depths may be required at special points. When the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company requires definite information upon the ground as to elevations or working points from which to base the location of their assignments, they shall apply to the City Engineering Department not less than three (3) days before such information is required. The Southwestern Bell Telephone Company 1.8 further put upon notice that they will be required to bear the expense of repairs or replacement of any underground utility damaged during the construction of lines named in this resolution. AND THAT whenever pavement is out in the vicinity of a fire plug, water must be used at intervals during the course of backfilling of the ditches. That the work and construction of said underground conduits described above, including the excavation of the streets and the restoration and maintenance of said streets after said underground conduite have been constructed, shall be under the supervision and direction of the City Manager. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Alford, Gillis, Mayor McFadden, Councilman Mueller, 4; nays, none; Counoilman Steck absent, 1. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: WHEREAS, Texas Public Service Company has presented to the City Council tentative maps or plans showing the proposed construction of its gas mains in the streets in the Oity of Austin hereafter named, and said maps or plans have been considered by the City Council; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT Texas Public Service Company be and the same is hereby permitted to lay and construct its gas mains in and upon the following streets: (1) A gas main in LEONA STREET from East Nineteenth Street to East Twenty-second Street, the centerline of which gas main shall be 18 feet west of and parallel to the east line of said Leona Street. Said gae main described above shall have a cover of not less than 22 feet. (2) A gas main in RED RIVER STREET ALLEY from Manor Road to Pelham Street, the centerline of which gas main shall be 5 feet west of and parallel to the centerline of said Red River Street Alley. Said gas main described above shall have a cover of not less than 22 feet. (3) A gas main in SABINE STREET ALLEY from Manor Road to Pelham Street, the centerline of which gas main shall be 4 feet west of and parallel to the east line of said Sabine Street Alley. Said gas main described above shall have a cover of not less than 2 feet. (4) A gas main in SABINE STREET from Manor Road to Pelham Street which gas main shall be 32 feet east of and parallel to the west line of said Sabine Street. et , the centerline of Said gas main described above shall have a cover of not less than 22 feet. (5) A gas main in Kalmer Street, formerly East Twenty-first Street, from Red River Street to Oldham Street, the centerline of which gas main shall be 10 feet north of and parallel to the centerline of said East Twenty-first Street. Said gas main described above ehall have a cover of not less than 2 feet. The Texas Public Service Company is hereby put upon notice that the City of Austin does not guarantee that the space assigned above is clear from other underground utilities, but is based upon the best records we have at hand, and that the minimum depth stated does not have any reference to the fact that creater depths may be required at special points. When the Texas Public Service Company requires definite information upon the ground as to elevatione or working points from which to base the location of their assignments, they shall apply to the City Engineering Department not less than three (3) days before such information is required. The Texas Public Service Company is further nut upon notice that they will be required to bear the expense of repairs or replacement of any underground utility damaged during the construction of lines named in this resolution. 501 AND THAT whenever pavement is cut in the vicinity of a fire plug, water must be used at intervals during the course of backfilling of the ditches. THAT the work and laying of said gas mains, including the excavation in the streets and the restoration and maintenance of said streets after said mains have been laid, shall be under the supervision and direction of the City Manager, and under all the pertinent terme and conditions of the certain franchise granted to said company by the City of Austin. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Alford, Gillis, Mayor MoFadden, Councilman Mueller, 4; naye, none; Councilman Steck absent, 1. A petition signed by V. B. Keith and other property owners on West 29th Street, protesting the recent change in the name of this street to "Mocking Bird Lane", was read and referred to the City Plan Commission for consideration. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT the sum of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the Parks and Playgrounds Bond Fund for the purpose of paying for an abstract of title to the Hamilton-Wooten properties located in Shoal Oreek basin; and that a warrant issue therefor, payable to Gracy-Travis County Abstract Company for said abstract of title. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Alford, Gillis, Mayor Mofadden, Councilman Mueller, 4; nays, none; Councilman Steck absent, 1. No further business coming before the Council, Councilman Mueller moved to recess subject to call of the Mayor. Motion was seconded by Councilman Gillis and same prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Alford, Gillis, Mayor Moradden, Councilman Mueller; 4; nays, none; Councilman Steck absent, 1.
