501 AND THAT whenever pavement is cut in the vicinity of a fire plug, water must be used at intervals during the course of backfilling of the ditches. THAT the work and laying of said gas mains, including the excavation in the streets and the restoration and maintenance of said streets after said mains have been laid, shall be under the supervision and direction of the City Manager, and under all the pertinent terme and conditions of the certain franchise granted to said company by the City of Austin. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Alford, Gillis, Mayor MoFadden, Councilman Mueller, 4; naye, none; Councilman Steck absent, 1. A petition signed by V. B. Keith and other property owners on West 29th Street, protesting the recent change in the name of this street to "Mocking Bird Lane", was read and referred to the City Plan Commission for consideration. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT the sum of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the Parks and Playgrounds Bond Fund for the purpose of paying for an abstract of title to the Hamilton-Wooten properties located in Shoal Oreek basin; and that a warrant issue therefor, payable to Gracy-Travis County Abstract Company for said abstract of title. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Alford, Gillis, Mayor Mofadden, Councilman Mueller, 4; nays, none; Councilman Steck absent, 1. No further business coming before the Council, Councilman Mueller moved to recess subject to call of the Mayor. Motion was seconded by Councilman Gillis and same prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Alford, Gillis, Mayor Moradden, Councilman Mueller; 4; nays, none; Councilman Steck absent, 1. The Council then recessed. SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Approved Mayor. i Austin, Texna, November 9, 1932.. The Council met at 7:30 F. M. with the following membora present: Councilmen Alford, Gillis, Mayor McFadden, Councilman Mueller, 4; absent, Councilman Steck, 1. The meeting was called for the purpose of considering the appeals of taxpayers from the action of the Board of Equalization and the following communication from the Tax Арвровот & Collector was read: 502 "Austin, Texas, November 8, 1932. Mr. Adam R. Johnson, City Manager, Austin, Texas. Dear Sir: I hand you herewith appeals to the City Council from the valuations as set by the Board of Equalization. You will find attached reports of the Tax Department's investigation of these properties and the valuations that same should have for equalization. It is my recommendation that the valuations be set in accordance with these reports. Very truly yours, (Sgd) T. B. Marshall, Тах Аввезsor & Collector. " The Mayor then stated that the Council would hear those present who wished to be heard in the matter of their appeals and the following appeared and were heard: J. B. Robertson, who stated that he preferred to embody his remarks in a letter to the Council, supplemental to his original protest, which he was advised to dos M. H. Reed, for himself and the Majestic Realty Company; George S. Nalle; H. J. Melin; T. J. Butler ; William Kutalek, by Earl Shelton, Attorney; Mrs. W. M. Brown, by Lofton L. Johnson, Attorney; H. H. Luedecke; Louis Cherico; Mrs. T. B. Horne; Misses McDonald; Mrs. U. E. Haverlah; J. T. Stockton, by Horace Shelton, Attorney; E. O. Rather Estate, by Gillespie Stacy, Agent; A. J. Eilers; Mrs. William A. Driscoll; J. E. Smith; Shelton Adrian; O. E. Lyons; Mrs. Rose Gilfillan; and S. J. Von Koenneritz, for himself and as Secretary of the Austin Saengerrunde Home Company. After hearing the above protests, the Council took the matter under consideration. Councilman Alford moved that the Council recess, subject to call of the Mayor. Motion was seconded by Councilman Gillis and same prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Alford, Gillis, Mayor Mofadden, Councilman Mueller, 4; naye, none; Councilman Steck absent, 1 The Council then recessed.
