152 SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, July 08, 1933. Roll call showed the follow- The Council was called to order by Mayor Pro tem Wolf. ing members present: Councilmen Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Pro tem Wolf, 3; absent, Counoilman Alford and Mayor Miller, 2. Mayor Pro tem Wolf stated that the meeting was called for the purpose of electing a temporary Oity Treasurer, and then laid before the Council the following resolution: WHEREAS, Sam Sparks, City Treasurer of the City of Austin, died on July 6, 1933, and it therefore becomes necessary to elect a City Treasurer to fill the vacancy caused by his death; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: 1. THAT Eldred McKinnon is hereby elected, upon the same terms, limitations and conditions as applied to the former election and incumbency of Sam Sparks, and to serve in such capacity until a City Treasurer can be elected according to the provisions of the City Charter. 2. THAT the City Manager is hereby directed to advertise for bids for the office of Oity Treasurer, for a period of three consecutive days, in the Austin Daily Dispatch, a daily newspaper published in the City of Austin, beginning July 8, 1933, and to mail το each bank in the City of Austin, within said three days, a copy of said notice, and that on July 20, 1933, at 10:00 o'clock A. M., said bide shall be opened and examined by the Oity Council and a City Treasurer elected thereon. Counoilman Bartholomew moved the adoption of the above resolution. The motion was seconded by Councilman Gillis and same prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Pro tem Wolf, 3; nays, none; Councilman Alford and Mayor Miller absent, 2. There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Gillis moved to recess subject to call of the Mayor. The motion was seconded by Councilman Bartholomew and same prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Pro tem Wolf, 3; nays, none; Councilman Alford and Mayor Miller absent, 2.
