500 The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT the sum of $1,875.00 be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Fund, not otherwise appropriated, for the purpose of providing for the salaries, for the remainder of this year, of a Bookkeeper, a Charity Investigator, and a Drug Olerk for the City Hospital. A committee of citizens submitted a petition asking for a recreation park in the area north of 24th Street and west of Guadalupe Street. The matter was referred to the Park Board and Recreation Department for consideration. Messrs. A. J. Eilers and Sidney Smith submitted a petition signed by a large number of citizens asking for the passage of an ordinance regulating fishing in the Colorado River. Action on the matter was deferred until the next regular meeting, at which time any objection to the proposed ordinance will be heard. Mayor Miller laid before the Counoil the following ordinance: AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS, WATER, ELECTRIC LIGHT AND SEWER SYSTEMS REVENUE BONDS SERIES 1934, $857,000, BEARING INTEREST 4%, TO SECURE FUNDS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF REPAIRS, IMPROVEMENTS AND EXTENSIONS TO THE WATER, ELECTRIC LIGHT AND POWER AND SANITARY SEWER SYSTEMS IN AND FOR SAID CITY; PRESORIBING THE FORM OF BOND; PLEDGING THE REVENUES OF SAID WATER AND ELECTRIC LIGHT AND POWER SYSTEMS TO THE PAYMENT OF PRINCIPAL AND INTEREST OF THE BONDS, AFTER PROVIDING FOR THE EXPENSE OF OPERATING SAID SYSTEMS; MAKING CERTAIN COVENANTS OF THE CITY IN REFERENCE TO THE BONDS AND THE BOND FUND FROM WHICH SAID PRINCIPAL AND INTEREST ARE TO BE PAID; PROVIDING THAT THE HOLDER OR HOLDERS OF SAID BONDS SHALL NEVER HAVE THE RIGHT TO DEMAND PAYMENT OF SAID OBLIGATIONS OUT OF ANY FUNDS RAISED OR TO BE RAISED BY TAXATION; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. ! 501 The foregoing ordinance was read the first time and Counoilman Alford moved that the rule be suspended and the ordinance be placed on its second reading.
