M., with Mayor Tom Miller presiding. Roll call showed the following members present: Councilmen C. F. Alford, Simon Gillis, and Mayor Tom Miller, 3; absent, Councilmen C. M. Bartholomew and Oswald G. The Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and upon motion of Councilman G11118, seconded by Councilman Alford, the same were adopted as read by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Alford, Gillis, and Mayor Miller, 3; nays, none; Councilmen Bartholomew and Wolf absent, 2. Councilman Alford offered the following resolution: WHEREAS, the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company has presented to the City Council tentative maps and plans showing the proposed construction of its pole lines in the streets in the City of Austin hereafter named, and said maps or plans have been considered by the City Engineer; therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE OTTY COUNCIL OF THE OTTY OF AUSTIN: THAT the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company be and the same is hereby permitted to construct its pole lines in the following streets: (1) One telephone pole in EAST THIRTIETH STREET near Beanna Street, the center of which pole shall be 3 feet south of the north line of East 30th Street. THAT the work and construction of said pole lines, including the excavation of the streets and the restoration and maintenance of said streets after said pole lines have been constructed shall be under the supervision and direction of the City Manager, and in accordance with the ordinances and regulations of the City of Austin governing such construction. The foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Alford, G11118, Mayor Miller, 3; nays, none; Councilmen Bartholomew and Wolf absent, 2. The following report of the City Manager on bide received for the construction of the Monroe Street Bridge was read: "Austin, Texas February 20, 1935 4 Mr.. Guiton Morgan City Manager Austin, Teхав Dear Sir: Bids were received this morning for the construction of the Monroe Street Bridge as follows: J. C. Gilstrap. Rex D. Kitchens Word & Worrell J. F. Johnson Edward T. Lorey J. M. Odom $2,338.70 2,762.00 2,832.50 3,060.25 3,125.12 3,601.80 The low bid of J. C. Gilstrap is some $650.00 below our estimate and I would recommend that the job be awarded to him. Attached is a resolution for the appropriation of funds for this construction. Green et ux by warranty deed dated Apr11, 1890, and recorded in Volume 98, at pages 152-154 of the Deed Records of Travis County, Texas; thence following the present east right-of-way line of said San Antonio Road, or Post Road, as fenced, N. 36005 E. 159.83 feet to an iron stake set on the proposed east right-of-way line of said San Antonio Road or Post Road, which point is on a curve whose intersection angle is 27°59', whose radius is 623.09 feet, and whose tangent distance is 155.26 feet, and from which iron stake a large iron stake at the northwest corner of said Flury tract bears N. 36°05' E. 107.78 feet; thence in a southerly direction following the curving proposed east line of San Antonio Road, or Post Road, an arc distance of 165.30 feet, the long chord of which arc bears 5.230201 W. 164.96 feet to an iron stake set on the south line of said Flury tract, same being the north line of the aforesaid Green to Hamilton tract; thence following the common line between the Flury and Hamilton tracts N. 52°33' W. 36.01 feet to the place of beginning; upon condition that good title is shown to said land upon examination by the City Attorney. R. Hamilton by J. J. La Prelle, for the consideration of $5.00 in cash and the assumption by said City of Austin of all taxes for the year 1935 on the land hereinafter described, and other valuable considerations, the following described land: The certain tracts and parcels of land in La Prelle Place, a subdivision of part of the Isaac Decker League in the City of Austin, Travis County, Texas, according to the map or plat of said La Prelle Place of record in Plat Book No. 2, page 215 of the Plat Records of Travis County, Texas, said tracts being described by metes and bounds as follows: i First Tract: An irregular shaped strip of land out of Lot No. 4, Block No. 1, said La Prelle Place Addition, and described by metes and bounds as follows: Beginning at the northeast corner of said Lot; thence 2.0' along the north line of said Lot to the proposed west right-of-way line of South Congress Avenue, which point is on a curve to the right progressing southward in said proposed west right-of-way line; thence along said curve to the right in said proposed west right-of-way line, which is 50.0! from and parallel to a 10°00' curve to the right in the proposed center line of South Congress Avenue, approximately 46.2' to the east line of said Lot; thence 46.1' along the east line of said Lot to the place of beginning. Second Tract: Being an irregular shaped tract of land out of Lot No. 5, Block No. 1, said La Prelle Place Addition, and described by metes and bounds as follows: Beginning at the southeast corner of said Lot; thence 50.0' along the east line of said Lot to the north line of said Lot; thence 7.2 along the north line of said Lot to the proposed west right-of-way line of South Congress Avenue, which point is on a curve to the right progressing southward in said proposed west right-of-way line; thence along said curve to the right in said proposed west right-of-way line, which is 50.0' from and parallel to a 10000 curve to the right in the proposed center line of South Congress Avenue, approximately 50.5' to the south line of said Lot; thence 2.0' along said south line of said Lot to the place of beginning. Third Tract: An irregular shaped strip of land out of Lot No. 6, in Block No. 1, said La Prelle Place Addition, and described by metes and bounds as follows: Beginning at the southeast corner of said Lot; thence 50.0' along the east line of said Lot to the north line of said Lot; thence 15.9' along the north line of said Lot to the proposed west right-of-way line of South Congress Avenue, said point being on a curve to the right progressing southward in said proposed west right-of-way line; thence along said ourve to the right in said proposed west right-of-way line, which is 50.0 from and parallel to a 10000 curve to the right in the proposed center line of South Congress Avenue, approximately 52.0' to the south line of said Lot; thence 7.2' along the south line of said Lot to the place of beginning. Fourth Tract: In the City of Austin, Travis County, Texas, and being approximately 11,000 sq. ft. of land, a portion of Bartlett Street, as shown upon a map or plat of said La Prelle Place appearing in Plat Book No. 2 at page 215 of the Plat Records of Travis County, Texas, said 11,000 sq. ft. being that portion of Bartlett Street included between or intercepted by two straight lines as follows: Line No. 1. Beginning at a point on the north line of Lot 30A, of Block 2, of said La Prelle Place at a point where the west right-of-way line of the proposed southerly extension of South Congress Avenue through La Prelle Place would intersect said south line of Bartlett Street, and which intersection is 18.3 feet westerly from the northeast corner of said Lot 30A; thence in a northerly direction following a straight line to the southeast corner of Lot 7, of Block A, of Richardson's Subdivision of Block 1, of Doughtys Subdivision of a part of the Isaac Decker League within the City of Austin, Travis County, Texas, which 1 corner is the intersection of the west line of South Congress Avenue and the north line of Live Oak Street. Line No. 2. Beginning at a point on the south line of said Bartlett Street at a point where the east right-of-way line of the proposed southerly extension of South Congress Avenue through La Prelle Place would intersect said south line of Bartlett Street, and which point of intersection is 54.3 feet westerly from the northeast corner of Lot 29A of said La Prelle Place; thence in a northerly direction following a straight line to the intersection of the east line of South Congress Avenue with the north line of Live Oak Street. Fifth Tract: In the City of Austin, Travis County, Texas, and being approximately 787 sq. ft. of land, same being a portion of a 15 foot alley traversing Block No. 2 of La Prelle Place, according to a map or plat of said La Prelle Place as recorded in Plat Book No. 2, at page 215 of the Plat Records on file with the County Clerk of Travis County, Texas, said 787 sq. ft. of land being that portion of said alley which is included within the bounds of the proposed southerly extension of South Congress Avenue through La Prelle Place, and more particularly described as follows: Beginning at a point in the east line of said 15 alley and in the west line of Lot 29, in Block No. 2, of said La Prelle Place and which point of beginning is at the intersection of the east line of said alley and the west right-of-way line of the aforesaid proposed southerly extension of South Congress Avenue through La Prelle Place, and which point of beginning is 8.8 feet northerly from the southwest corner of said Lot 29; thence in a northerly direction following the east line of said 15' alley and west line of Lots 29 and 29A, in Block 2, of said La Prelle Place to the northwest corner of Lot 29A; thence in a westerly direction crossing said alley and following a straight line to the northeast corner of Lot 30A in said Block 2; thence in a southerly direction following the west line of said alley and the east line of Lots 30A and 30 to a point that is 12.1 feet southerly from the northeast corner of said Lot 30A and which point is on the west right-of-way line of the aforesaid proposed southerly extension of South Congress Avenue through La Prelle Place; thence in a southerly direction following said west right-of-way line to the place of beginning. Sixth Tract: In the City of Austin, Travis County, Texas, and being approximately 13,023 sq. ft. of land, same being a portion of College Avenue as shown upon map or plat of La Prelle Place, a subdivision within the City Limits of the City of Austin, Travis County, Texas, according to map or plat of said La Prelle Place as recorded in Plat Book No. 2, page 215 of the Plat Records on file with the CountyClerk of Travis County, Texas, said 13,023 sq. ft. of land being that portion of College Avenue as intercepted by the right-of-way limits of the proposed southerly extension of South Congress Avenue through La Prelle Place, said tract of land being more particularly described as follows: Beginning at a point in the east line of College Avenue and in the west line of Lot 11, in Block 1, of La Prelle Place, which point of beginning is the intersection of the east line of said College Avenue and the west right-of-way line of the aforesaid proposed southerly extension of South Congress Avenue through La Prelle Place, and which point of beginning is 27.1 feet northerly from the southwest corner of said Lot 11; thence in a northerly direction with the east line of College Avenue and the west lines of Lote 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15, in said Block 1, to a point where the east line of said College Avenue intersects the east right-of-way line of the aforesaid proposed southerly extension of South Congress Avenue through La Prelle Place and which point of intersection 18 44.7 feet northerly from the southwest corner of said Lot 15; thence in a northerly or northwesterly direction angling across College Avenue and following said east right-of-way line to a point where this right-of-way line intersects the west line of College Avenue, and which point of intersection is 19.8 feet southerly from the northeast corner of Lot 27, in Block 2, of said La Prelle Place; thence in a southerly direction following the west line of College Avenue and the east lines of Lots 27, 25, 23, 21, and 19, in said Block 2, of La Prelle Place, to a point where this line of College Avenue intersects the west right-of-way line of the aforesaid proposed extension of South Congrese Avenue through La Prelle Place, and which point of intersection is 36.3 feet southerly from the northeast corner of Lot 19, in Block 2, of said La Prelle Place; thence in a southerly or southeasterly direction angling across College Avenue to the place of beginning; upon condition that good title is shown to said land upon examination by the City Attorney.
