196 Street and one-half of the frontage of the block between Colorado Street and Lavaca Street, more particularly described as Lots 32 (E) and 32 (F), Block B, Outlot 20; Lots 12 (0), 12 (D), 13-14 (E) and 13-14 (F), Block 0, Outlot 19; Lots 38 (1) and 38 (J), Block D, Outlot 19, Lots 7 and 8, Block 42, Original City, Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, Block 43, Original Oity, so as to change same from "B" RESIDENCE DISTRICT to "C" COMMERCIAL DISTRICT, was declared open, in accordance with published notice thereof. No one appearing to protest the proposed change, the City Attorney was instructed to prepare an ordinance amending the Zoning Ordinance in the particulars stated. The City Attorney was instructed to get all necessary data from the Railroad Commission for an investigation of the gas rates, including a copy of the contract of the Texas Public Service Company with the United Gas Public Service Company. The Mayor offered the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT all interest and penalties on the taxes for the years 1923, 1924, 1925, 1926, and 1927, on 4 acres out of Lot 12, in Evergreen Heights, City of Austin, assessed for said years in the name of Geo. B. Hufford, be and the same are hereby remitted, and when said taxes are paid thereon, the City Attorney is instructed to dismiss suit No. 45890, City of Austin vs. George B. Hufford, at the cost of the City. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Wolf, 5; nays, none. There being no further business, Councilman Alford moved to receas, subject to call of the Mayor. The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Wolf, 5; nays, none. The Council then recessed at 12:10 P. M.. Attest: Itall SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Approved: Jom Milla Mayor. Austin, Texas, July 24,1935. The meeting was called to order with Mayor Tom Miller presiding. Roll call showed the following members present: Councilmen Alford, Gillis, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Wolf, 4; absent, Councilman Bartholomew, 1. The Mayor stated that the meeting was called for the purpose of considering a proposed reduction in the gas rate. A. T. Knies, Vice President and General Manager of the Texas Public Service Company, submitted a letter he had received from the United Gas Public Service Company declining to grant a reduction in the rate charged for gas at the city gate. After considerable discussion, the matter was postponed, pending submission by the Texas Public Service Company of an itemized statement showing the investment, receipts and disbursements of said Company in the City of Austin.
