SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: 333 ! Austin, Texas, December 06, 1935. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M., with Mayor Tom Miller presiding. Roll call showed the following members present: Councilman Simon Gillis, Mayor Tom Miller, and Councilman Oswald G. Wolf, 3; absent, Councilmen C. F. Alford and C. M. Bartholomew, 2. The Mayor stated that the meeting was called for the purpose of hearing appeals of taxpayers from the action of the Board of Equalization. T. J. Butler protested the valuation placed on the acreage property of Mrs. Mary J. Butler fronting on the Barton Springs Road, on the grounds that said property was overflow land. Mayor Miller moved that the valuation placed on said property by the Board of Equalization be sustained and no change be made. The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Councilman Gillis, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Wolf, 3; nays, none; Councilmen Alford and. Bartholomew absent, 2. C. W. Heath protested the valuation placed on the personal property assessed in his name; and, for reasons stated, asked that suit for collection of taxes on real estate owned by him be deferred until March, 1936. Councilman Wolf moved that the said C. W. Heath be granted the extension of time asked for, and that his personal property assessment protest be referred to the Board of Equalization for reconsideration. The motion carried by the following vote: Ауев, Councilman G1111s, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Wolf, 3; nays, none; Councilmen Alford and Bartholomew absent, 2. Geo. S. Nalle protested the valuation of $1842 placed on the improvements on Lot, Block 129, on the grounds that said improvements were only fifty per cent completed on January 1, and asked that the valuation on said property for future years be placed at $3683. Councilman Wolf moved that no action be taken relative to the assessment on said improvements for future years and that the matter of an adjustment on account of the incompletion of said improvements on January 1 be referred to the Board of Equalization for such action as it deems advisable. The motion carried by the following vote: Aуев, Councilman Gillis, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Wolf, 3; naye, none; Councilmen Alford and Bartholomew absent, 2. J. B. Robertson, individually, and as agent and attorney-in-fact for Margaret Robertson, Sue Robertson Ross, Joined pro forma by her husband, Zeno C. Ross, and Warren T. Robertson, protested the valuations placed on the land and improvements owned by said heirs. Councilman Wolf moved that the valuations placed by the Board of Equalization upon said properties be sustained and that no change be made. The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Councilman Gillis, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Wolf, 3; nays, none; Councilmen Alford and Bartholomew absent, 2. M. Irving Smith protested the valuation placed on the improvements at 2019 Sabine Street, being legally described as Lot 5, Block 19, Outlot 25, Christian & Fellman Addition, Division "C". The matter was referred to Councilman Gillis and the Board of Equalization for a reinspection of the premіsеs. John F. Wallace protested the valuation placed on the improvements at 1304 Lorraine Street, being legally described as Lot 6, Block 90, Outlots 6,7,8, Division "2", 334 Enfield "A". Counoilman Gillis moved that the valuation on said improvements be reduced to $4775. The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Councilman Gillis, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Wolf, 3; naye, none; Councilmen Alford and Bartholomew absent, 2. Councilman Gillis moved that upon the recommendation of the Board of Equalization the valuation on 4.22 acres of land out of Block 7-B, Bouldin Addition, belonging to William Yeldermann be changed from $2460 to $1685 for the years 1930, 1931, 1932, 1933, 1934, and 1935, and that the Assessor and Collector be authorized to change his rolls accordingly. The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Councilman Gill.is, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Wolf, 3; nays, none; Councilmen Alford and Bartholomew absent, 2. Councilman Gillis moved that the valuation placed by the Board of Equalization on Lot A, Block G, J. E. Bouldin Addition, Plat 116, located on Annie Street between Second and Third Streets, belonging to R. E. Warren, be sustained and no change be made. The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Councilman Gillis, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Wolf, 3; nays, none; Councilmen Alford and Bartholomew absent, 2. Councilman Gillis moved that the valuation placed by the Board of Equalization on Lots 11, 12, and 13, Block 17, Glenridge Addition, assessed in the name of W. L. White Estate, be sustained and no change be made. The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Councilman Gillis, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Wolf, 3; nays, none; Councilmen Alford and Bartholomew absent, 2. Councilman Wolf moved that the valuation placed by the Board of Equalization on the improvements on Lot 12, Block 8, Outlot 3, Division "Z", assessed in the name of the J. F. Smith Estate, be sustained and no change be made. The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Councilman Gillis, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Wolf, 3; nays, none; Councilmen Alford and Bartholomew absent, 2. Councilman G1111s moved that the protest of Max Silberstein against the valuation placed on the improvements located at 1311-13 Parkway, being legally described as the 80x80 out of a three-acre tract in Outlot 6, Unplatted Reserve, Division "2", be referred to the Board of Equalization for reconsideration.
