Councilman Alford moved that upon the recommendation of Roy J. Smith, Captain of Police, Traffic Division, the following named persons be granted Taxicab Driver's Permite: Walter Alvin Lewis, 408 East 11th Street; Robert Edgar Lamb, 610 Driskill Street; Charley Clay MoGowan, 305 East 8th Street; Milton Ray Parten, 1811 Holley Street; Andrew W. Hewitt, 1008 West 6th Street; John Bruno Dzierzanowski, 309 Crockett Street; and Jesse Casarez, 1707 East 19th Street. Councilman Alford offered the following resolution: WHEREAS, Texas Public Service Company has presented to the City Council tentative maps or plans showing the proposed construction of its gas mains in the streets in the City of Austin hereafter named, and said maps or plans have been considered by the City Council; therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT Texas Public Service Company be and the same is hereby permitted to lay and construct its gas mains in and upon the following streets: (1) A gas main in WOODROW STREET, beginning at a point 9 feet west of the east line of Woodrow Street and 13 feet south of the north line of East 34th Street; Thence in a northerly direction with the centerline of a gas main, which centerline shall be 9 feet west of and parallel to the east line of Woodrow Street, for a distance of one-half block to an alley. 347 i Said (gas main described above shall have a cover of not less than 2 feet. (2) A gas main in EAST THIRTY-FOURTH STREET, beginning at a point 9 feet west of the east line of Woodrow Street and 13 feet south of the north line of East 34th Street; Thence in a westerly direction with the centerline of a gas main, which centerline shall be 13 feet south of and parallel to the north line of said East 34th Street, to a point that is 37 feet west of the west line of Woodrow Street. Said gas main described above shall have a cover of not less than 2 feet. (3) A gas main in WEST FORTY-FIRST STREET, beginning at a point 25 feet south of the north line of said West 41st Street and 130 feet east of the east line of Guadalupe Street; Thence in a westerly direction with the centerline of a gas main, which centerline shall be 25 feet south of and parallel to the north line of said West 41st Street, for a distance of 60 feet. Said gae main described above shall have a cover of not less than 20 feet. (4) A gas main in SPEEDWAY, beginning at a point 7 feet west of the east line of Speedway and 109 feet north of the north line of 45th Street; Thence in a northerly direction with the centerline of a gas main, which centerline shall be 7 feet west of and parallel to the east line of said Speedway, for a distance of 100 feet. Said gas main described above shall have a cover of not less than 2 feet. (5) A gas main in EAST FIRST STREET, beginning at a point 11 feet north of the south line of East Ist Street and 212 feet west of the west line of Pleasant Valley Road; Thence in an easterly direction with the centerline of a gas main, which centerline shall be 11 feet north of and parallel to the south line of East Ist Street, for a distance of 132 feet. Said gas main described above shall have a cover of not less than 2 feet. The Texas Public Service Company is hereby put upon notice that the City of Austin does not guarantee that the space assigned above is clear from other underground utilities, but is based upon the best records we have at hand, and that the minimum depth stated does not have any reference to the fact that greater depths may not be required at special points. When the Texas Public Service Company requires definite information upon the ground as to elevations or working points from which to base the location of their assignments, they shall apply to the City Engineering Department not less than three (3) days before such information is required. The Texas Public Service Company is further put upon notice that they will be required to bear the expense of repairs or replacement of any underground utility damaged during the construction of lines named in this resolution. AND THAT whenever pavement is cut in the vicinity of a fire plug, water must be used at intervals during the course of backfilling of the ditches. THAT the work and laying of said gas mains, including the excavation in the streets and the restoration and maintenance of said streets after said maine have been laid, shall be under the supervision and direction of the City Manager, and under all the pertinent terms and conditions of the certain franchise granted to said Company by the City of Austin. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Alford, Gill18, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Wolf, 4; nays, none; Councilman Bartholomew absent, 1. Councilman Wolf offered the following resolution: WHEREAS, there is shown in Plat Book 1, at page 41, of the Plat Records of Travis County, Texas, a map or plat of a subdivision of land known as Christian and Fellman Addition; and WHEREAS, upon said map or plat there is shown a certain street 50 feet in width known as Cole Street and an alley being 16 feet in width and being the first alley east of Cole Street; and WHEREAS, that portion of said Cole Street lying between the north line of Bremond Street, or 234 Street, and the south line of Deitrich Street, or 24th Street, and being 348 bounded on the west by Block 47 and being bounded on the east by Block 46, and that portion of said 16-foot alley traversing a portion of Block 46 and extending southerly from the south line of Deitrich Street, or 24th Street, to the west line of Cameron Road, have never been opened or used in any way as a public street or a public alley; and WHEREAS, the Texas Wesleyan Academy is owner of all of Blocks 46 and 47, of said Christian and Fellman Addition; and WHEREAS, the Trustees of said Texas Wesleyan Academy have petitioned the City Council of the City of Austin to vacate that portion of Cole Street lying between Blocke 46 and 47, and that portion of the said 16-foot alley traversing said Block 46, and said petition has been reviewed by the City Council of the City of Austin; therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT that portion of that certain street 50 feet in width and being known as Cole Street as shown upon a map or plat of Christian and Fellman Addition appearing in Book 1, at page 41, of the Plat Records of Travis County, Texas, which portion of Cole Street herein referred to extends from the north line of Bremond Street, or 23h Street, to the south line of Deitrich Street, or 24th Street, and being bounded on the west by Block 47 of said Addition and bounded on the east by Block 46 of said Addition, and that portion of that certain alley 16 feet in width, being the first alley east of and parallel to Cole Street, extending in a southerly direction from the south line of Deitrich Street, or 24th Street, to the west line of Cameron Road, be and the same are hereby permanently vacated and closed. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Alford, Gillis, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Wolf, 4; nays, none; Councilman Bartholomew absent, 1. Councilman Wolf offered the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT it is determined to issue Three Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($350,000.00), twenty (20) year, three per cent (3%), serial coupon SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION AND IMPROVEMENT BONDS of the City of Austin; and THAT the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized and instructed to advertise for bids for the purchase of said bonds in the local daily newspapers and the Bond Buyer of New York, said bide to be received on January 23, 1936. Thomas for a change in the zoning of property owned by him fronting on Parkway from Residence "B" to Commercial "C" was referred to the Zoning Board of Adjustment for recommendation. There being no further business, upon motion duly made and seconded, the Council recessed until 7:30 P.
