Austin: City Bonds Cremated, Abattoir Funds, Tax Breaks

220 and 1/2 of the interest thereon, which 1/2 amounts to $111.93; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT said penalty in the sum of $70.15 and 1/2 of the interest on said taxes, said 1/2 being $111.93, is hereby remitted, and the Tax Assessor of the City of Austin is authorized and directed to strike same from his assessment rolls, and is authorized to accept the taxes due on said property and 1/2 of the interest thereon in full settlement and satisfaction of the assessment on the aforesaid property for the years 1931 to 1935, inclusive. The foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Alford, Bartholomew, Gillis, Mayor Miller, and Councilman Wolf, 5; nays, none. The meeting was called to order at 10:10 A. M., with Mayor Pro tem. Oswald G.Wolf presiding. Roll call showed the following members present: Councilmen C. F. Alford, Simon Gillis, and Mayor Pro tem. Oswald G. Wolf, 3; absent, Councilman C.M. Bartholomew and Mayor Tom Miller, 2. The Minutes of the regular meeting of January 21 were read and, upon motion of Councilman Gillis, seconded by Councilman Alford, were adopted as read by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Alford, Gillis, Mayor Pro tem. Wolf, 3; nays, none; Coun- cilman Bartholomew and Mayor Miller absent, 2. Mayor Pro tem. Wolf offered the following resolution: WHEREAS, taxes on 275x1.35 feet (J), Outlot 6, Division "E", Gregg Subdivision, Plat 93, in the City of Austin, Travis County, Texas, are delinquent for the years 1932, 1933, and 1934, the taxes thereon aggregating $237.20, penalty $11.86, and interest for non-payment of taxes at maturity, $40.61; and WHEREAS, the taxes on 9.3 acres out of the Isaac Decker League, Plat 123-C, in the City of Austin, Travis County, Texas, are delinquent for the years 1929 through 1935, inclusive, said taxes aggregating $565.30, penalty $28.25, interest $135.43; and t WHEREAS, said taxes were assessed for a greater part of said time against D. A. Gregg and said land is now the property of the D. A. Gregg entate, which is in the course of administration, said D. A. Gregg having departed this life some years ago; and WHEREAS, in view of all the circumstances in this case, it is deemed equitable and advisable to remit the penalties accrued during said time on said property in the sum of $39.81, and one-half the interest thereon in the sum of $88.01, taxes, penalties and interest aggregating $127.82; therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT said penalties in the sum of $39.81, and one-half of the interest on said taxes, said one-half interest being $88.01, are hereby remitted, and the Tax Assessor of the City of Austin is authorized and directed to strike same from his assessment rolls and is authorized to accept the taxes due on said property and one-half of the interest thereon in full settlement and satisfaction of the assessment on the aforesaid years. Councilman Alford offered the following resolution: WHEREAS, the Schuhmacher Company, acting by and through W. J. Perlitz, Manager, lessee from Guy A. Thompson, Jr., Trustee for the I. & G. N. Railroad Company, which property abuts the east side of Nueces Street and the north side of West 4th Street, and being parts of Lots 1 and 2, Block 46, of the Original City of Austin, Travis County, Texas, has made application to the City Council of the City of Austin for permission to construct one commercial driveway 13 feet in width across the north sidewalk area of West 4th Street at the above described location as shown upon the plan hereto attached marked 2-0-674, which plan is hereby made a part of said request; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Austin has favorably considered the granting of said request; therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT the Schuhmacher Company, acting by and through W. J. Perlitz, Manager, lessee from Guy A. Thompson, Jr., Trustee for the I. & G. N. Becker, owner of a 7-acre tract comprising Outlot 7, Division "O", of the Government Outlote adjoining the Original Oity of Austin, Travis County, Texas, which property abute the east side of Chicon Street and the north side of East 3rd Street, and being situated at the northeast corner of the intersection of said streets, and being locally known as 301 Chicon Street, has made application to the City Council of the City of Austin for permission to construct one commercial driveway 14 feet in width across the east sidewalk area of Chicon Street at the abové described location as shown upon the plan hereto attached marked 2-0-675, which plan is hereby made a part of said request; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Austin has favorably. considered the granting of said request; therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: THAT the Becker Lumber Company, acting by and through H. E. Becker, owner of a 7-acre tract comprising Outlot 7, Division "0" of the Government Outlots adjoining the Original Oity of Austin, Travis County, Texas, which property abute the east side of Chicon Street and the north side of East 3rd Street, and being situated at the northeast corner of the intersection of said streets, and being locally known as 301 Chicon Street, is hereby permitted to construct one commercial driveway 14 feet in width across the east sidewalk area of Chicon Street at the above described location, subject to the construction of concrete ramps, curbs, driveways, side- walks, and expansion Joints as shown upon the plan marked 2-0-675, which plan is hereby made a part of this resolution, and further subject to the condition that all concrete curb, ramp, and driveway construction done within the City streets shall be done by a bonded sidewalk contractor under the direction and supervision of the City Engineer of the City of Austin and in accordance with lines and grades furnished by the Engineering Department of the City of Austin. Councilman Alford moved that the following named persons be granted toxicab driver's permits, in accordance with the recommendation of Roy J. Smith, Captain of Police, Traffic Division: Boyd Bee Barbee, 1809 Holly Street; Raburn Burnel. Barbee, 1809 Holly Street; Grady Edward Cagle, 700 Wood Street; Paul Eugene Dixon, 1911 University Avenue; Melvin Elmer Scott, 803 West Mary Street; and Albert C. Woodruff, 507 West 38th Street.
