506. SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, November 19, 1937. The meeting was called to order with Mayor Tom Miller presiding. Roll call showed the following members present: Councilmen O. F. Alford, C. M. Bartholomew, Simon Gillis, Mayor Tom Miller, and Councilman Oswald G. Wolf, 5; absent, none. The following report was received: "Austin, Texas Nov. 18, 1937 City Counc11 Austin, Texas Dear Sira: We have examined the bids received upon the Fire Station to be erected at the corner of Windsor Road and Forest Trail and recommend that the contract be let to the following Contractors as we find their bids to be the lowest and best: General Contract to L. Μ., Thursday, November 18, 1937, at the City Hall in Austin, Texas; and WHEREAS, At said time and place said bids were publicly opened and read as specified; and WHEREAS, Thereupon it was found that the bid of L. L. McCandless, in the amount of $9,562.00, on general construction for said fire station was the lowest and best bid under said project, and that said bid was regular and proper in all particulars; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: THAT the bid of L. L. MoCandless, in the amount of $9,562.00, on general construction for said fire station be, and the same is hereby, accepted; and the City Manager in behalf of the City of Austin is hereby authorized and instructed to enter into a contract with the said L. L. McCandless.
